No.We almost lost that game.

We were under control for 3 quarters and if didn't collapse in the third quarter it would have been an easy win for us. Why did we collapse ? I don't know,it's our first game together.Things like that happen.
But after all we showed toughness and determination. We had came back from -10 and won the game. And we did it with DEFENSE,allowing the Celtics only 17 points in the 4th quarter.
We played very good defense for 2 and a half quarters. And when I say very good defense I mean very good defense, not something we were used to before.

So stop with the negativity. We won.

You realize we didnt run any offensive sets that game...

No the Knicks need to find a PG we wont be this lucky too often!

I'm not getting what you are talking about at all.

We beat a team who has been together for a few years, a good one at that.

Teams make runs, I expected Boston to make one and they did with Melo on the bench.

If Pierce played, Rondo does not get 31, most likely more assists, but not those points.

We won, and were not a cohesive unit.

We won even though we have no pg.

We won because of our talent being better than theirs.

I'm not giving any team credit but my own.

We won, I'm not apologizing for that, and definitely not making excuses.

It was a win but people are getting all hyped up over beating a PP-less Boston. A W is a W.

Let them play like that again against a quality team or Boston again it will be blow out.

Point being this team HAS to get a PG. We got away with one on Christmas but if you cant even run a set this team is in trouble.

And any idea of having Melo be a point forward is ludicrous!

I agree with Rameek. We HAVE to address the pg situation. Not saying Melo did a bad job bringing up the ball, but c'mon. Stop putting bandaids on the situation. We went out and signed 2 guys, we put our faith in another, and we STILL have a huge question mark at the position.

That being said, I don't know what you guys saw, but I thought Iman played a hell of a game. Sure he missed some shots and a few were contested. He's a rookie. I wish Landry Fields had half the balls he had to take shots. I LOVED his confidence. The last thing we need on the court is another scrub who's a "specialist". Harrelson,Jeffries,Balkman,Fields,Bibby,Chandler all look to pass the ball immediately when given the ball without being in scoring position. You can't have yet another guy scared and/or unable to create his own shot. The Celtics game was essentially a pre-season game in terms of Shumpert's experience. We had no real offseason. A lot of those shots were close misses.I thought he came in the game with confidence and attacked Rondo like I would expect our starting point guard to do. Instead, Toney Douglas played like a pu$$y once again against Rondo. I dont know what it is about him but when we play Boston, he played scared out his mind. Shumpert missed shots and a few were a little wild but I'd start him at PG over Toney Douglas RIGHT NOW in a heartbeat. He's a playmaker and Douglas is not....period.

BTW...he's ALREADY shown me he's also a better defender too.

I think we played great for 3 quarters. You can't deny that.
Boston made a run in the third quarter but that was expected. We are inexperienced team(outside of big 3) who haven't played much games together.
Things like that happen.

What would you say if you were a Celtics fan ? "We played horrible and if the Knicks didn't collapse in the 3rd we would have lost by 20".
Well, that's true. We outplayed them for the most of the game, especially in the 1st quarter.
And we showed toughness in the 4th quarter.Last year we couldn't pull this off.Celtics were winning 4th quarters against us for the whole last season.
Last night we outscored them 27-17. They scored only 17 points, that tells something about our defense.
Let me tell you something more. That 17 points include Rondo's jumpshot and 2 Garnett's jumpshots who were very well contested. So even when they made shots it weren't open jumpshots.
And our defense adjusted, that was rarely seen last season.

Just a little meaningless stat for you:
Do you know what the score would look like if we played 3rd quarter like we played the rest 3 quarters ? (I took 3rd quarter score as an average of the remaining 3 quarters)

Boston Celtics 92
New York Knicks 118

Yeah,we were that much better outside of 3rd quarter.

Yeah,we were that much better outside of 3rd quarter.
nice analysis, and might i add, if melo didnt get that cheap foul elbowing rondo in the third, we would have held it together.

yea he got elbowed on the nose and did some good acting but where else would melo move to, he face was right up on him and daniels forced melo to move into rondos face.

We are basically waiting on Baron to get to 100%, and until then the team will "wing it".

As far Melo in the "point forward", he had a few turnovers that wasn't his fault at all.

Guys have to be ready to catch the pass.

I recall one where Melo passed to Jorts, and it skidded right passed him, with no defender even close.

But no, I don't see anyone getting overly excited and hyped up, but I know for me I have expectations.

I expect my "max cats" to will this team to a win, and to not give up in any loss they receive.

And under no circumstance should I see this team with two big guns of firepower to get blown out.

Our top 3 guys have too much talent for that, and I hope their heart will prevent that.

This team scored 106 with no set offense, and no pg.

That's promising, and I refuse to apologize or make excuses.

I don't expect them to win every game, but I fully expect the team to compete with the guys they have.

"We beat a "Paul Pierce"-less Celtics".

So? They had guys step up and made up for his loss, as a team should.

We're missing players too.

Rameek I'm totally confused.

In the first game of the season, our guys rose up to the challenge, and succeeded.

The team will play whomever suits up, bring on Golden State.

Warriors just beat the Bulls and they were basically tied with Clippers until last 5 minutes when LA had made a run and won convincingly.

It won't be easy,I'm sure.

They took alot away from the Bulls transition game as well.

I'm not that concerned with that, as our team can run and play in the half court, something Chicago cannot do as well.

I watched quite a bit of this game, because I wanted to see how Mark Jackson coaches this team.

The key will be to keep them off the free throw line, and for us to not have alot of turnovers.

We cannot allow them to shoot 30+ free throws, and cannot allow them to score half of their points in the paint.

We handle those things....we win.

Curry also re-injured his ankle. Warriors say it's day-to-day so he might be out against us tomorrow.
It would be excellent if we could start the season 2-0.

We picked up Jeremy Lin off waivers. He's a warm body at PG, which is about the best we could hope for right now.

Can I make a request that nobody says "a warm body" when referring to another basketball player again? Its the 3rd time I've heard that on this forum this week and it make me incredibly uncomfortable lol .

Celtics-Heat game has just finished and I decided to post my impressions here.

Just look at the this:

- On Christmas we were complaining about our bad defense and allowing Celtics to score 104 points.
They scored 107 against the Heat.

-Celtics shot 51% against us
They shot 51% against the Heat

-They went on a crazy run in the 3rd quarter against us.
They went on a crazy run during 3rd and 4th quarter against the Heat

-Rondo had 31/5/13 against us
He had 22/8/12 against the Heat

- Allen had 20 on 7-12 shooting against us (Fields sucks on defense)
Allen had 28 on 8-12 shooting against the Heat (obviously Wade sucks on defense too)

-We were playing bad defense but we allowed them 17 points in the 4th.
Heat are excellent defensive team but they allowed them 24 points in the 4th.

I made this just for those who were complaining after our win on Sunday.
They were unsatisfied with our defense and other things. Celtics played pretty much the same against Miami who suppose to be #1 favorite to win it all.
