This is a real issue.

Last year we saw Amare attempt to establish leadership in the offseason, and he did so again based upon the little videos we saw from Training Camp.

Unfortunately, being a "leader" in the offseason doesn't translate to being a "leader during the season when facing adversity during games and in between games. Amare simply isnt that guy when it matters, he himself needs someone to motivate/inspire him to play hard.

Melo offers no leadership whatsoever, & Chandler is still new here.

In the end it looks like Baron Davis is the guy who has to be that "leader/Team Captain" for us to get things right. I cant believe I'm even saying that.

You know for all the criticisms of Melo (some warranted) nobody seems to mention the fact that he's passed the ball really well (except against GS) and when he's at the scorers table and on the bench, he's been clapping it up and towel waving. Not saying that makes him suddenly a great leader, but I have to give him kudos for that...considering nobody else probably will.

We need to give Melo props for that. He changed his game,he adapted to the system.
This one was the only game he took more than 17 shots and he did it because nobody else couldn't hit a shit.
That leads us to conclusion that he's not selfish and looks for his teammates.
Too bad they are scrubs and can't hit an open layup so he has 3.6 assists per game instead of 5-6 he should be having with non-scrub teammates.

Melo's stats so far: 27 points,7 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 44% shooting.

And you must consider that he's basically playing alone on this team. Amare has been horrible this season. Chandler is showing signs of improvement and rest of them are scrubs.

Amare talks a lot but he hasn't shown me anything that makes me think he's a leader.
He talks about defense and rebounding but he hasn't done anything about it on the floor. He doesn't defend, doesn't box out and doesn't even try to get a rebound.

Melo is our real leader. He's maybe smiling all game long but he at least leads by example,he's carrying this team on his back.
He sets up his teammates, goes for the rebounds aggressively and scores when we need the most.

It's Melo's team now,and it was his the day he arrived here.

Did anyone hear Melo's post game?

Tina asked him about the ill-advised three with 17 seconds left.

Melo says.....

"I asked coach should I go for the two, or three. Coach says whatever you feel like"

D'Antoni quit on us. I've said it since our 1st loss. He doesn't even care anymore.

I wonder if he was pissed because Toney Douglas screwed up the play that Melo shot the 3 and missed. The camera zoomed in on multiple people saying, "Toney....what happened man?"
