New Assistant GM has tonnes of ties in Europe.

What are everyone's thoughts?

I really like this for the Raps. It gives them a very good link with Europe and I feel that there are going to be more Euro's coming over to the NBA than ever in the next several years.

Been following the Raps for 8years now. Don't want the Raps to go too foreign! What's next? The Cheerleaders? (lol).
Seriously; the league is full of talented foreign players and Bargnani is ranked the best (foreign). But, is he the next Nowitzki, Kukoc, Milicic, Divac, Sabonis, Giniobili, Gasol, Stojokovic, or Araujo? He averaged something like 12.4ppg,5.2rpg. If they draft him, he will ride the bench behind Villanueva, and Bosh until he matures. I would like to see TO draft a high flyer, someone who excites the crowd and fills the Air Canada to capacity......like VC used to .....long ago! How many 6'10" and over players will the Raps have this season if they draft Bargnani? Nesterovic, Bosh, Villanueva, Woods, Sow, Bargnani to name a few.

Woods is a free agent. No clue if they are going to bring him back or not.

I wouldn't keep Woods, even Sow could be gone!

I think this is another step in the right direction for the Raps. He's not just going to be the guy who brings us Europeans, he's a guy who will do what it takes to get the players we need on our team. He does have tons of connections in Europe but that doesn't mean he's our "European GM". I read some things about him and apparently he's great. I really like the combonation of him and Colangelo working together.

Yeah but Euro guys love TO unlike some of the Americans who don't wanna come...Bargnani is already better than Araujo and Tskitishvili. By all accounts every major GM over here said he's the real deal...he will get 20-25 mins a night resting Bosh Villy and playing smaller teams C. Also you can never have too many 7'0" 's in the lineup better then undersized for the last 10 years or so.

isnt sow more like 6'7"

anyway i agree we need to get a high flyer like rudy gay to get the crowd going, or rodney carney, or trade for jr smith or something

Yeah getting a highflyer is important for the teams energy. As of now its only Bosh who brings that flare, and in his position and style of play you never know when its going to happen again. A guy like Carney, the crowd would just be waiting for it.
