Default How did Devin Ebanks go from being a starter to out of the rotation?

I'm confused. I could have sworn Ebanks was starting on the Lakers like a week ago and now he is not even getting playing time anymore? What the heck just happened? And can someone tell me about Devin Ebanks and his playing style? How good of a defender is he?

he's not that good, second round scrub, he has a pretty good post game but he always gets blocked when he tries it. solid defender at best

Mike Brown is the coach. Thats all you need to know.

He did the same thing in Cleveland toying around with the young players minutes and it only stunted their development as players.

Devin Ebanks got "Boobied". (in reference to Boobie Gibson)

1 minute you're a starter with upside
next minute you're not even playing games

Rowe has a point, but also, I'd like to say that I think he was the exact opposite of the player we need on the floor.

Now I'm not going to say he's a worse player than Barnes or MWP. He's unarguably better than MWP actually. But he has no ego and no energy.

He is EXACTLY the kind of person who will pass up shots and not look to assert himself, a guy who CANNOT energize the rest of the Laker team, and he WILL start spectating kobe and stop moving without the ball. We just can't have people like that on the floor, even though he'd probably give us 8-15 pts, what he doesn't give us is far more important to look at. I don't think he can even shoot 3s or is any athletic. He's just bad for what we need.

EDIT: I have no idea why morris isn't playing though. ridiculous

Ebanks and Caracter are two scrubs that dumb laker fans are always hyping up, wanting them to get minutes, but smart lakers fans see them for what they are-low upside scrubs who just aren't good enough.

Mike Brown gave this scrub a chance and he made no impact, good thing he's letting players earn their minutes.

Ebanks is way too passive. I like him a lot but he doesn't do it for us (like the poster said). He's got an automatic mid range and is a pretty good defender. However, he's not confident at all and it impacts his game a lot. Has potential.

Yeah that's all nice and fun until you wonder why the Lakers are breaking down by mid February with Kobe, Bynum, Gasol punching in 36+ MPG consistently.

While other veteran teams rest their guys on the back end of a back to back to back, Mike Brown is grinding his starters all 3 games.

Not sure what happened to McRoberts either but Mike Brown seems dedicated to making sure any player 25 and under except Bynum doesn't have to break a sweat this season.

McRoberts is injured.

Matt Barnes is earning that starter spot. He's a solid defender and can knock down open shots (somewhat).

Metta World Peace is better off the bench IMO.

Matt Barnes is most likely the best option of the three. Does that not make sense?

Is Matt Barnes a better defensive player than Devin Ebanks? Barnes was never an impressive defender so I would assume Ebanks is better defensively. Barnes is a really good rebounder and he brings toughness to the team though. He probably does deserve to start but I just don't understand why Ebanks has to go from starter of the team to no playing time what so ever.

Ebanks is a one dimensional defensive specialist who is only an average defender and can't hit the corner 3. All he can do well is throw entry passes to the post. Send this scrub down to the D-league

Positives - solid mid-range shot, active hands, length, solid defender

Negatives - below average ball handler, inexperience, not very athletic, not a great passer.

I think in time Ebanks could be a contributor, but at this point he's just not what we need.
