You know what's the problem ? The thing that Amare looks slower and with no lift this season.
It isn't Tyson's fault that Amare gets blocked like 3 times a night in situations he would have recently dunked and kill his defender.
Amare got 20 lbs over the summer and he looks much worse,maybe even because of that.
I don't doubt that Amar'e body is not right but I watch games and see more struggles due to spacing/role than I do a player struggling to compete athletically.

He's still more athletic than most of the players in the league.
But athleticism is what made him dominant and without it he's just a good offensive player. Not dominant.

Amar'e is starting to get his shots blocked at the rim, and if he isn't doing that he's shooting jumpers.
If Ama're doesn't know his role, I don't knoiw what to say about that, but he has space to operate.
He really hasn't been an impact player at all this season.
Jeremy Lin can the run the pick and roll just fine with Tyson Chandler. He can also run it just fine with Jared Jeffries, even when Chandler is on the floor. But he can't seem to run it at all with Amar'e. I don't get that.
Amar'e has been getting blocked more, but he mashed one tonight and tried to mash another but it rimmed out. He obviously still jumps high enough to dunk. I think he just needs to get his legs back. They need to work that pick and roll though. That's how he gets in rhythm and starts hitting those jumpers. I liked the flashes of the two man game we saw between Melo and Amar'e. They need to do that more.

The coach wants that to be option number 1 with him. That's why he wants someone who can run the pick and roll. It's the most effective way to get Amar'e going towards the rim. Lin can run it with everyone but Amar'e for whatever reason.

We can go through this loop all night if you want. Fact is, Amare is taking way too many shots from long range.
They're not bad shots. He's wide open, and has been consistently knocking them down for the last two or three years. With Chandler down low, you have to be able to hit that shot.
I guess you'd prefer he put the ball down and drive into traffic. Watching him get stripped and turn the ball over is always fun.
