We all agree he's over paid.

So you think he's the equivalent of Kwame Brown?

Glad to finally hear this from someone other than myself on this forum. I think people are downplaying the negative impact of the signing. Just because you say it was a bad signing, doesn't mean you don't like the player. It means you don't like the predicament his contract puts us in. Essentially, we pay him double what he's worth to be Samuel Dalembert.

I think we all agree that the financials of the deal are terrible. Still, not much can be done about it at the moment.

The roster we have at the moment does not mesh well with the coaching philosophy.

He's a huge liability on defense and he isn't even a good rebounder.

Melo can pass the ball, and even when his shot isn't falling he is one of the best rebounding small forwards and he's nowhere near a defensive liability Amare is.

Also Melo can score 1 on 1 and is one of the best,if not the best closer in the league.
On the other hand Amare needs someone to spoon feed him to get his points on decent efficiency.
You see what happens when he doesn't have one,it's turnover after turnover on offense.

Melo is much better than Amare and you're blind if you can't see it.

We should wait until the end of the season.
Maybe Baron will be a nice addition who'll make Amare better (you know, actually useful).
If he continues to play this bad for the rest of the season he needs to be traded.

I have never seen anyone say the contract was good. But look Melo and Stat arent worth 18 mill plus either... It is what it is.

I say "It is what it is" because "whats done is done"
Same 'Ol Knicks stupidity nothing changes or going to change.

Not really.

We were 2 games above .500 without him and we're 2 games below .500 with him.
It's pretty much the same.

And the team before the Melo trade was losing momentum fast. Besides their mid November-mid December winning streak that team was below .500 team.

What's worse they were on a losing streak and played worse and worse every game so there's a huge chance they would have finished below .500.

In terms of instant production : SAME
In terms of potential: THIS TEAM IS BETTER

We weren't going anywhere with that core.
Now we can at least hope for something, the old one was a .500 team and a 1st round exit every year.
I don't say this team will do much better but at least it has a lot more potential and chance to do that.

The Knicks were on the decline before he got traded here. We got a huge bump in wins when Amar'e was playing like an MVP scoring 30 in all those games. The hard part of the schedule had started to kick in and we were losing games left and right.

Exactly what I said above.

We would have probably finished below .500

And that team had way less potential than this one.

Once we get rid of D'Antoni and make some off-season moves (or maybe even with healthy Baron) this team should get rolling.
Maybe we'll have to wait until the next season, maybe we'll always be a .500 team.
Who knows,at least we have something to hope for.

Carmelo Anthony led teams always lose in the first round.

That big trade hanging over everyone's head definitely impacted a few players. Wilson Chandler especially looked rattled. They would have had a nice rally after the break. Adding Mozgov back into the lineup was a plus, he was looking good.

Add in all the financial flexibility which we no longer have, and that team was all potential. Maybe Chris Paul. Donnie Walsh wouldn't have that Chandler Albatross around the teams neck.
