Every time they mentioned the record as 34 I thought back to Shaq in 2000 vs the Pacers. I feel like he shot 39 in game 1 or game 2. Either im wrong or playoffs dont count.
Shaq did shoot 39 FTA vs. Indy in the 2000 Finals, but this is a regular season record.

Re: Dwight Howard sets new NBA record for free throws attempted in a game, with 39
The best thing about it was every time they did hack-a-Howard he went up and made the FT. Think he only missed 1, maybe 2.
A couple years ago a similar thing happened. Can't remember against who, but they intentionally fouled Dwight on 4 straight possessions to send him to the line. He nailed all 8 FT's. It's always been a mental thing with Dwight. Why can't he have that same mind state when he shoots them normally throughout the game?

NOt bashing Howard, but if warriors had Kwame Brown, he wouldn't have had nearly 45 points and 39 free throws. He might have played well, but not that well.

TRUE!!!!!
Why are guys excited about this? He missed 18 free throws, had he made all of them he would've scored 63 points!!!
All this shows is that he is a huge liability in crunch time, I remember several game where Shaq was afraid to touch the ball near the end for fear of the free throw line. Dwight has been in the league way too long to still toss up bricks like that.....I'm not hearing anything about a shooting coach working with him.
The 23 rebounds is far more impressive......that's WORK!!!

Not a big deal considering they were fouling him on purpose the whole game. Thread title should read "Mark Jackson sets NBA record for free throws attempted...." 23 rebounds is impressive though
