true, but in this age of free agency where guys want to get paid after big years...its hard to repeat as a dominant defense. their defense is the real deal, eli leads game winning drives against 9 out of 10 teams, and he couldn't. TWICE. much props.

13 wins might be stretching it...especially now that they are on the map. but 10 wins and playoffs looks likely.

there is no gaurentee that D will be great for years to come...

it isn't like having an elite QB at all

keeping a whole squad together is much harder than locking up one man

3-4 years from now that roster will look different...

Trade for Peyton Manning. They'll win the Super Bowl if they do.

Fixed.

Aside from defensive players that are the cornerstone of their success, what do they have to trade for Peyton Manning?

Depends on what Indianapolis asks for him. They may just release him to free agency. No one really knows yet.

One of those 9ers wideouts need to step up. The 9ers passing game is Vernon Davis, Gore out in the flat, and...****in nobody.

Stop talking about Manning playing somewhere else. He's taking snaps in Indy next year or he's chilling on the couch. Probably the latter. The cap hit of a trade is astronomical, let alone getting absolutely no value in a trade to even make it minutely worth considering. The Colts pick up his option on March 8th Jim Irsay's either an idiot (likely) or his nerve's good to go. They don't he's done playing football.

Well, that's considerably different than trading for him.

They might lose a piece here or there, but as long as the core remains in tact, which it will, they'll be a great defense.

I never said the Packers were this good on defense.

Nick Collins was an pro bowl caliber safety, too, it was a pretty big lose for that secondary.

They also lost Cullin Jenkins, a big part of their front.

The Niners have had a good defense for the past few years and this year the defense was arguably the best in the league. Their core group of players Willis, J. Smith, Bowman and Aldon Smith are under contract for next year and other than j. smith the rest of them are under 30. Goldson and Rogers are FA next year but I think both will resign. The defense features two of the best players at their respective positions Willis at LB and J.Smith as an end. Willis was out for a few games this year and the defense was just as good. Barring any crazy injuries the D will be great for years to come.

I think Crabtree is a damn good WR as well when targetted and thrown to, he's got good hands, size and strength to be a good #2 WR in the league he's like a mini version of Colston or Marshall. They had the right idea getting a Braylon Edwards on the opposite side, but the problem is the QB can't throw a good consistent deep ball. I still think SF should look to get a WR opposite Crabtree and upgrade the QB position if reasonably possible.

Jenkins was their run stopper in the middle, and is also a guy that can pressure the QB from over center. Couldn't replace him.
