49ers will not win a superbowl with alex smith as their QB. He may not lose them the superbowl, but he sure as hell won't win you one either.

yes, true

Nick Collins and Jenkins is a big loss

however that still shows that just 2 people can be the difference between a top-5 D and a bottom-5 D

No argument there. That's the point I was making regarding trading key defensive pieces for Manning (or anyone else for that matter).

Their schedule will be harder next year so as long as that division stays weak they will have a chance. But they should get a considerably harder schedule and 13 wins will most likely be out of the question.

was just listening to the radio they are saying that Dashon Goldson and Carlos Rodgers would be unlikely to return next year

both had amazing years

they will need a saftey and a CB right away

both will be back 100% lol

at worst Rogers will get tagged, neither will leave

I heard a more interesting idea that involved SF dealing their first round pick + Colin Kaepernick to move up and grab a Michael Floyd or beast WR like that in the draft, I think its a good idea putting someone like that on the outside opposite Crabtree with VD working in the middle, even with Alex still at QB the passing game would put more fear in the minds of opposing defenses.

Carlos Rogers said that he will be willing to take less money to play for the Niners. Another thing, if the Niners wanted to, they could just franchise tag Dashon Goldson

This guy must forget the 49'ers play is arguably the worst division in football with quarterbacks like Skelton/Kolb & Tavaris Jackson being starting quarterbacks.
