I think whether Irsay likes it or not he's realized what a poor move it would be to bring Peyton back and draft a QB #1, and he's already said they're doing the latter. I think Miami would be the most ideal as I don't see him going to the same division as Eli if he can avoid it.

How is it a poor move to bring Peyton back (assuming he can play)?

They have no shot at contending and would set the rebuilding process back several years by tying so much money into one position.

We have no shot at contending? Based on what? When Manning was under the helm we've been in the playoffs for numerous consecutive years.

If healthy, we will contend.

do you think you can overtake Houston if Peyton leaves and you thrust Luck into a starting role

No, that would insinuate Luck is currently at Peyton's level (well, a healthy Manning) and I don't believe that to be true.

so you believe Peyton will be a Colt next season? The majority of reports are saying he's 99% gone

my own person prediction is that he ends up in Washington, Dan Snyder is going to be all over him if he is released...no one over pays for the stars of the past like he does.

Unlike you and your dumbass team, the owner is not the GM of the Redskins. He doesn't even have influence in football decisions anymore after all his muck ups so STFU

Honestly, at this point, blind faith.

I honestly think that's Irsay's plan though. Draft Luck, sit him, let some of the older players walk/get cut, try and institute a complete change in approach to team building. And keep Peyton.

I didn't say I like it or that it's smart, I've said from the jump it's one or the other, Peyton or Luck. But I really think Irsay is going to keep Peyton around with even less talent than he's ever had because he just can't let go, stagnate a true rebuild by sitting Luck, and then just creating a massive amount of drama with the whole "when's Luck gonna play?!" deal. Favre/Rodgers is similar but not close to the same. Rodgers was a late 1st round pick (luckily), Manning's better than Favre could ever dream of being. The INDIANAPOLIS Colts have a good chance of not existing without Peyton. I want every snap of Peyton's career to be with a horseshoe on the helmet, but the way Irsay's doing it is just dumb.

I honestly don't know what I want to happen, but it's either trade the #1 (which is absolutely NOT happening) for a bundle and surround Peyton with talent, or release him and let him go. The absolute, bar none, disaster scenario is keeping Peyton and Luck. Like I said, I want Peyton to be a Colt for life, but I'd get it if they're really rebuilding. But I don't think Irsay'll do it. If I'm wrong, much as I love the greatest QB in history, I'll cry my eyes out, but GOOD. Because it's sound business.

I have not heard this that is truly an interesting scenerio. Not that it would happen but that would be quite a great story and one of the best football moves ever.
