Default Re: Trent Dilfer's rankings of the QB's

Well Dilfer did categorize it as "Hall of Fame level" so you might be reading too much into it since you said yourself that Big Ben will be in there. Maybe if Dilfer were more specific about elite tiers and whatnot Ben will be lower, but he fits the category as is.

So you'd move Bradford up because of only ONE pretty good season, but you'd move Freeman down, even though his best season was better than Bradford's?

At least you're consistent in your homerism, prime

Doesn't mean they're exactly on the same level right now.

People like him based on potential, he hasn't actually proven anymore than Freeman, probably less.

Hold on, so Dilfer's saying there are 13 QBs that're HOF level provided some of them "win another ring?" Which is the ****ing stupidest metric ever for a football HOFer.

Default Re: Trent Dilfer's rankings of the QB's

The list is too simplified... Under the list these players are not in order.

Hall of Fame Level: (Elite)
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees

Near Hall of Fame Level: (Elitish)
Ben Roethlisberger (He could fit in both cats)
Eli Manning (Win the SB or Does enough to win moves up)
Phillip Rivers

Very Good:
Tony Romo
Matt Ryan
Joe Flacco
Jay Cutler
Michael Vick

Good:
Matthew Stafford
Matt Schaub
Cam Newton
Andy Dalton
Carson Palmer
Matt Hasselbeck
Alex Smith

Could Go Either Way:
Mark Sanchez
Sam Bradford
Kevin Kolb
Matt Cassell
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Matt Moore
Josh Freeman

More of a projection on my part than a ranking of his accomplishments. I don't think it's a particularly gutsy call, though I could be wrong. If he ends up in Washington I might not want to stand by that ranking but I think he would look pretty good in Miami or Seattle.

Went back and forth on moving Ryan down, think he belongs more in the middle between those tiers. Ryan is better statistically, partly because of being in a dome, but I definitely value his superior ball security over Cutler's better play-making ability.
