Mikan and then Wilt and then Shaq.

Also perhaps Jordan indirectly.

He was so much better then any other SG's that the league had to enforce the sissy hand check rules (05+ beyond) to help other guards perform better.

Barkley, I believe, caused the no 5 second back behind the basket rule.

Or was that Shaq as well ?

Also got to shout out to Mark Cuban for changing the rules to open up the game. He was heavily vouching for that to help out Dirk.

Not the NBA, but Bill Simmons mentioned that KAJ was directly responsible for the no-dunk rule in the NCAA.

Ah yes, thanks.

I believe Mark Jackson used to employ the same tactic, looking back at his games.

It was just a rule enforced by Kareems coach on him specifically.

Nah, looking it up, they even named it after him:

Quote:
Dunking was banned in the NCAA from 1967 to 1976. Many have attributed this to the dominance of the then-college phenomenon Lew Alcindor (now known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) upon his entry into the NCAA. Subsequently, the no-dunking rule is sometimes referred to as the "Lew Alcindor rule."[3][4]

Ron Artest deserved a mention.

Not really because he was a great player or anything like that, but the while brawl thing against the Pistons caused the league to make the NBA players wear suits, speed up the limitation of non-contact in the NBA, and boast the punishment for fighting.

The brawl caused many rules to be implemented of the modern NBA
