Missing Gus Johnson already

I am really going to miss hearing Gus Johnson during March Madness (Rise and fire!). I wish there hadn't been a contract dispute with CBS; he helped make the March Madness experience for me every year.

I missed him during football too.

We have four of us who watch football together every weekend. With wives and kids it adds up, but as for the real football guys, it's really just us four. We have the dish, so we get all the games, and just at 1:00, we put on the multiview, and we bet each other on which game Gus was doing. It was always some crap AFC south or west game. We got pretty good at. We'd scan the screen and all of a sudden you'd notice the Jaguars were at the Chiefs, and we'd all scream ... JACKSONVILLE!! ... first guy to get it would win. And if he wasn't on at one, you could see us all 3 hours of those first games thinking about what rediculous 4:00 he'd be doing. Houston at Denver ... sure.

And in spite of always getting these weird mismatch games that seemed to have little to no bearing on any of the races ... Gus always seemed to stumble into great games.

So yeah, going back to football season even, I've really missed Gus. At least with college hoops I still have Raftery ... "And the Johnnie's open up in the ... mantaman! (somehow one syllable)"

That's the same with MM on CBS. Kellogg and Nantz always doing the FF, and Johnson getting put on random games where there is the potential for upset. They always seemed to turn into great games, the ones Johnson was doing.

I want to know what the contract dispute was over, probably money.

Being selfish here, but I love hearing Gus call multiple MSU games in the regular season. Such a classic voice.
