Default Portland Trailblazers- What if?

What if Roys knees weren't made of jello?

What if Oden had lived up to expectations instead of getting knee replacement surgery with Sam Bowie's knees?

Where would they be? They already had LA on the team when these things went south on them. What if they had never happened? Would they be THE favorite? Right behind Miami?

It doesn't matter anymore, bro.

But I'll answer anyway. If you look at the Blazers losses this season, 8 of them were close games where the Blazers lost by 3-5 points. If Roy, a clutch player, were healthy, half of those games, if not all, could easily have been wins. 17-6 would put them right behind the Thunder and Bulls. Now, hypothetically speaking, if Roy's impact on his team is bigger than a 3-5 pt. loss differential average, the Blazers would easily be 21-2 and be on pace for best record, percentage-wise, in NBA history.

In all the Bulls "what ifs" that involved trading for Kobe they never would have gotten Rose. So they are worthless. This was the core in Portland and nightmare scenarios played out that destroyed what should have been a GREAT team.

Josh isn't even addressing What if Oden were better than Durant, which was widely expected when he was taken.

Roy/LA/Oden would have been a nasty Big 3 to build around.

There was a time a few years ago I would have taken Brandon Roy as one of the first 5 people to build a team around in the entire NBA.

Now he's not even able to play basketball.
