Default Players Who Are/ Were Too Selfish To Become GREAT

Watching these guys pisses me off more often than not cause I'm a HUGE basketball junkie and just overall love watching a great play happen but....some guys just ruin sh*t w/ their own personal motives and I guess it pisses me off cause they could be so much better.

Joe Johnson

Tyreke Evans

These 2 players IMMEDIATELY come to mind (though there's more, I'll leave that to y'all) but they have all the God given talent in the WORLD but I guess Satan implanted that "selfish" gene in them and it makes me shake my head when these guys, Joe Johnson ROUTINELY IN THE HALFCOURT SET LOOK OFF AN OPEN TEAMMATE just so he can go "Iso Joe" over dribble, take a bad shot that he likely will miss but not to worry, if he misses it...the next one is goin' in, if he makes it...HE'S ON A ROLL which instantly turns into "heat check time!" while his West Coast counterpart, Tyreke Evans WILL ROUTINELY LEAD A 2 ON 1 FASTBREAK W/ HIS TEAMMATE USUALLY 3 STEPS AHEAD OF HIM ONLY TO NOT RECEIVE THE BALL cause 'Reke wants to lay it up or dunk it himself. How in the hell did he average 5 assists his rookie year? Oh I know... he was the only player on the team!

I don't get it, these guys could be GREAT PLAYERS but are just too selfish to become what they could EASILY achieve w/ a different mindset.

Past or present, who's on your list?

the most selfish players in nba history are the 3 of the greatest of all time

wilt, jordan and kobe

their greatness was at a level that was so high that they got away with it and went against everything natural to the game of basketball

they pass only when they absolutely have to.. shoot as much as they want... and are winners because of it

no one else could get away with it

Russel Westbrook.

Dude has an insane amount of talent and athleticism and he plays alongside one of the best off-ball players in Durant. He could average 20apg and probably at least close to 10apg if he weren't so intent on becoming the man and scoring.

Seriously, if you put Rondo or CP3 on the Thunder, they would average an insane amount of assists.

Harden, Durant, and Ibaka are all knock down shooters from their respective ranges. Harden and Durant can shoot from anywhere and Ibaka can hit midrange shots with his eyes closed.

Joe Johnson, Tyreke Evans, Andrew Bynum, are all very great choices. The first two (JJ more) stick out. In Bynum's case, he's still under Kobe and Gasol is also better than he is, regardless of how he's being used right now.

Westbrook is more stupid and petulant than he is selfish.

Beasley is a black hole right now, but I don't think he's necessarily too selfish. It's certainly not holding him as far back as the others. Maybe it doesn't suit his team, but he is less criminal in his current situation. And he's also stuck between where his best position is.

I think Westbrooks problem is a lack of skills its not always a mental thing

Bynum's not selfish. He just doesn't know how to read defenses.

Low post players are notoriously slow at learning how to pick up double teams, pass out of them, etc. Not only has Bynum spent the majority of his career sitting on the bench injured, but he also started playing basketball later than most NBA players.
