Default Goodell: NFL might expand to 34 teams to include Los Angeles

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...-los-angeles/1

A team in OKC would sell out every single game no matter how good the team is.

that state is all about football...just look at the Thunder, those games are all sell outs...I can't even imagine what a NFL crowd there.

I don't like this, the schedule is perfect the way it is. Any changes in the number of teams would just complicate things and lead to more byes.

Oklahoma I would agree is a real football city, they should be given a shot. But the good people of Hollywood have already failed to sufficiently support 2 franchises. You could put a Superbowl in LA because they love the spectacle but a bad football team over there would be ignored and the way the NFL is set up there's no guarantee they get a good team even though they have a big market.

Why not get rid of a team like Jacksonville instead?

Because the NFL overall is making money even if some teams are struggling, and in boom times you don't want to contract. Maybe move a team struggling but you don't just get rid of that team. And even before you move a team if you have a conscience about it you have to consider all the jobs that will be lost, people whose livelihood depends on having that team there.

So isn't this taking leverage away from a team like the Chargers who are trying anything to get a new stadium?

apparently none of the current owners want to move their teams...the Jacksville owner wants to keep that team just how it is...same with all the others that were considered potential candidates like the Bills

no one wants to move

so add 2 teams, adding just one is really bad like the article says though...you have to have a BYE week every single week cause there is an odd number of teams...one team always gets left out.

Knowing Goodell, he probably said they'll add two teams so that way, he can get the other expansion team in London.

The good thing is it lets the cities about to leave their teams keep their teams. Not sure what the second city is though...

Meh I think all of the games will sell out.

All of these could probably sell out a stadium in LA on their own; they have that many fans here.. Steelers, Giants, Patriots, Bears, Cowboys, Niners, Chargers, Jets, Raiders, and Packers.

The current terrible Dodgers and the terrible Clippers of a couple seasons ago would always sell out games when the star studded teams came to town. So add these to the for sure sell out list. Panthers, Saints, Lions, Eagles, Ravens, Texans, Denver*, Colts*.

The teams your left with might be tough, but during the first four or five seasons the allure of having a team will keep all the seats filled. BY then hopefully the team will be competitive..

On a given Saturday here, you can have 90k at the coliseum for USC, 90k at rose bowl for UCLA, 50k at dodger stadium, 50k at angels stadium, 19k at staples for the kings, 19k later in the day at staples for the lakers, 20k at home depot center for galaxy, and 20k over at honda center for ducks.

There are more than enough people to support the biggest sport in the country here.

That makes some sense in theory but the reality is that the Rams and Raiders have both been in LA and in both cases the team ownership decided they could make more money elsewhere. I'd bet that's why Goodell isn't pushing the idea in spite of LA being a major media market. In a way it's a bad thing for a sports franchise when there are too many other things to do in a city because it leaves people with good entertainment options to pick when the team is doing badly.

And then you mention all of those teams that could sell out a game in LA. I'm not sure they would sell them out but they would sell tickets, and that's actually related to another problem: LA is a city of transplants, especially among the people that would have the money to really support a football team. They already have a hometown team to whom they give their loyalty so they'll shot up for the one game every three years KC is in town but don't care about the true local outfit.

There already aren't enough QBs for the 32 teams. They're gonna make it worse?
