Let's Get It On And Poppin!!!: Official OSU vs. Florida Championship Game Thread
Aight, here it is...twelve hours before the kickoff. State your case and final score.
My guess is that Troy will showcase his "Tom Brady-esque" talent for the whole world to see. As he will distribute the ball to a 70% completion rate, to go along witha crisp 350 in the air and 4 touches.
I expect the OSU defense to deploy a "bend but don't break" style of play in an attempt to basically make Florida earn everything they get. IMO, when Florida trys to force the issue, it will result in turnovers...and that's when the game will be broken wide the f*ck open. Final score will be OSU 61 Florida 11

How you like that Gator Fan...
lol really 61-11...i would bet all my money on the score being alot closer than that...florida is the best team in the best conference...this should be a very competitive game
I think Florida is the most deserving team to play against OSU for the National Championship, But I dont think they match up well against them. I think USC matches up better but they didnt take care of business so they dont deserve the chance for a National Title this year. Florida was very inconsistent this year on offense, they really dont run the ball well, and ran a 2 quarterback system for most of the year. Ohio St. dominated most of the opponents that they played against, and they never really looked like they had trouble moving the ball against anybody they played. The Point Spread is at 7 1/2,
I expect Ohio St. to cover......
im actually not excited by this game at all. having it so late after all the other bowls makes me not really care.
plus all the little bowls that have come on after Jan 1 were not of any interest to me either. like that GMAC bowl last night. WHO CARES?
pretty sad b/c i used to watch every bowl game. but now that 64 teams get into bowls and the money hungry bastards moving the games so late into the year while at the same time saying a playoff would make the season too long have put me off of them.
had this come on Jan 2 the day after that badass Boise/OU game i would have been frothing at the mouth but not now.
Yeah, I think the people of America are having a heard time overcoming the emotional high of that sterling Alamo Bowl. :
...anyways, this is an chance for The Ohio State University to solidify their status as probably the best team to ever grace a collegiate football field. When you consider that until that Michigan game, Ohio State hadn't won a game by any less than 17 points and with a win tonight, they would have beaten three #2 ranked teams during in the same season. It just can't be denied...with a dominant victory, The Buckeyes will be at the very minimum, considered a top-three college program of all-time. Here's to the opportunity of a lifetime.

Wow. That's the kind of hyperbole that not even Brent Musburger could match. Last year's OSU team was better than this one. More explosive offense with Santonio Holmes, more experienced and talented defense with Hawk, Carpenter and Whitner.
It's been a really down year in college football team wise. Neither Florida or this OSU team would be within 14 points of the 2 finalists from last year.

, are you kidding me? Even with a split QB situation, Troy probably would've won that game against Texas last year. I almost guarantee if Troy was never suspended, The Buckeyes would have one that game. You don't believe me? How about you take that fact Troy Smith is pefect 19-0 in his last 19 starts. Sound familar, huh?

you just love to keep showing you dont know squat about CFB dont you?
there is not purely dominant team this year. deal with it. scholarship limits are leveling the playing field.
teams from as recent as 10 years ago would whomp the big boys now.

Troy Smith is light years better this year than he was last year... and he was really good last year. This guy just keeps getting better and neither USC nor Texas (from last year) would stand a chance at stopping OSU's offense this year. Their defense might not be as star-studded this year, but they have been stellar all season.

No team that cannot throw the ball would/could win a championship these days as Nebraska did 10 years ago. Offensive schemes are more like the NFL these days and the elite defenses are just too fast... if you are one-dimensional, you lose. It is not by chance that teams that have been really good at mixing up their play calling have been successful the last 5 years.
Maybe scholarship limits are helping to level the playing field, but there is still a huge gap in the coaching of elite teams compared to non-elites.
