NFL Offseason Thread (stuff that doesn't deserve own thread)
If something is thread worthy then make a thread for it. If it's just little stuff like cuts/small trades/news tidbits then we can place it in here.
Raiders release CB Stanford Routt
Quote:
Routt had restructured his contract last August to five years and $54.5 million, an exorbitant number even for the team's top cover corner. Routt's contract was said to contain $20 million in guarantees over the first two years, but the new regime decided he was no longer worth the money after struggling down the stretch last season. Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reports Routt's $5 million base salary would guarantee if he was still on the roster by Friday. The Raiders entire secondary must be rebuilt this offseason. Routt will draw plenty of interest, and can sign immediately because he was cut.

Re: NFL Offseason Thread (stuff that doesn't deserve own thread)
Plaxico apparently doesn't love the Jets. Saw a few reports where he hung out with some Giants in the week leading up to the Superbowl and complained the Giants didn't offer him money and "forced" him to sign with the Jets and miss out on a Superbowl.
Saw another report that said he'd like to be an Eagle.
Personally i think they need to jettison him anyway, he's an enabler for Holmes, Sanchez needs some less flaky receivers.

I put that report in the Eagles thread. It's Howard Eskin reporting it so don't run with it. He's the one who reported the Eagles had contacted Bret Favre last year.
Bills GM says they still want to extend Fred Jackson's contract. He was cleared for all football activities 2 weeks ago.

He wanted to last year. I think because he wouldn't move. Maybe just someone being logical.

I can't stand Plaxico.. It seems all he does is whine and bitch about how he got mistreated, how he isn't getting the ball, how Eli didn't call him in prison, etc.
Giants don't need him, they don't need that malcontent

i liked Plax but he was always a problem, and never was a top level receiver. The Giants were looking at him as a third receiver type. The Jets got him as a starter. The problem with Plax is he is a frontrunner, and he needs a strong QB personality. Plax is not a bad guy, but he's dumb, and he's a follower, and for the Jets to put him with Holmes was beyond stupid.
at the beginning of the year people were telling me he's going to catch 80 balls and 12 td's, etc. Plax couldn't do that on his best year.

Plax was a pretty good wideout in his prime but now he's like 35.. He's just a jump ball/endzone threat at this stage of his career and he's bad locker room guy.

He never was someone though that caught a ton of passes in any one year. He's too inconsistent, the games he takes off kill the catch count. When he was a Giant he'd catch like 60 balls, people were expecting him on the Jets to have 80+ catches. It was silly.

I think Eli's an idiot savant. I don't expect him to be some gregarious media monster that can still somehow come off genuine like Peyton, but he's just so full of derp. Then he goes and wins Super Bowls.

His father always spoke to Fransesca on WFAN and swore up and down Eli was unphased. He'd be fine, just give him the ball, he's not bothered by anything. Peyton he said, Peyton would get pissed, and want to go out and kill you to prove you were wrong. Eli, you cussed him out he shrugged his shoulders and went out to play.

So just because he's not outspoken and a generally nice guy he's a "derp"
What's wrong about saying the right things, being a role model and being a leader? Not to mention he has ice in his veins and he doesn't give one shit what people think of him. Just remeber a couple of season ago people where calling Eli a bust, people were ripping him in NY and he just went out and won a superbowl.
