We aren't discussing Carmelo Anthony's struggles as a facilitator or playmaker, we're discussing the Carmelo Anthony who wants to put the team on his back by playing iso ball, all the while potentially freezing out options in the post like Amar'e... to the point that he has to acknowledge through various channels that he's been doing something wrong by not keeping his superstar teammate better involved. These aren't new revelations, dude.

Everything you're using to somehow mitigate the authenticity of claims against Melo as a ball stopper aren't really hitting their mark. So, if his struggles stem from being asked to play a role ill suited for the type of skill set he possesses, it would seem like Jeremy Lin playing a hefty distributing role would solve much of that. Only problem is that doesn't rectify Melo the ball stopper. He's never seen a shot he doesn't like, even if a higher percentage shot might be available elsewhere. With Lin's propensity for splitting defenders and driving to the basket, one can't help but wonder how willing Melo will be to give up touches in an effort to keep Lin initiated on the offensive end.

The whole argument that he played half a season on a depleted team argument is flawed. You make something out of nothing if you have to... look at what kind of regular season the Nuggets threw together in his absence. No discernible star power whatsoever but they made good with what they had.

Melo had a lot more talent as his second option than a lot of other stars did who pushed trades to new locales. Deron Williams, perhaps?

I dont think youve watched knicks games this season. melo has been moving the ball.

This. Melo can pass. He's actually a pretty good passer, he can find the open man if a double comes, things of that nature. But when it comes to actually running a team, liek Lin is doing, he's actually dictating pace, and running the offense, Melo can't do those things. Which is why Lin will make things easier for Melo, allow him to go back to what he does best, and play bully ball in the paint. No more dribbling it out at the 3pt line for Melo.

Yeah im not worried about melo. i just have my questions about how the spacing is going to be on pick n rolls. Melo stat chandler are all usually around the paint. but im sure master lin will figure it out.

Hogging the ball for majority of the possession and then passing it to an open teammate at the last second does not mean he's moving the ball.

this has been the problem. he can move the ball, but he should not be bringing the ball up court and playing point guard. it's plainly not his strength. for one, it keeps him from getting the ball where he's in better position to score. plus he's always going to be a scorer then a play maker, and too often his natural inclination is to try to score when it seems like the offense isn't producing enough, and that freezes his teammates out and makes things worse.

he's really a big man, and should be a play maker out of the post like a big man, but that's not going to happen. thankfully he is versatile enough to also be a good off the ball scorer.

let him isolate at the end of the shot clock or when he has mismatches, but other than that he should play within a team context.

novak, shump and jeffries are scoring in double digits when playing with lin. melo will feast on defenses that are thrown off balance by lin.

He was actually agreeing... and thinking that with Lin, Melo have it much easier as he can go back to being that post scorer and have less playmaking duties to worry about...

And as I've already said repeatedly, my gripe with Melo has never been his struggles as a playmaker.

You're right. Your gripe with Melo has been some "inferiority complex" that he seems to have developed overnight. That he feels he needs to score on every possession and will have problems playing off his point guard even though this issue has never been displayed in his NBA career. People have questioned Melo's lack of hustle defensively, his ability to make teammates better, but now hurting his teammates? And being stubborn and not wanting to play off his PG? This is definitely something new.
