if fields had played on the nuggets his numbers would not have been as good. Smith is going to beast in dantonis system. do you understand how big of a threat JR smith is ? he has all star level talent. put this guy in a spread offense with lin, melo, stat, and chandler, what is a defense going to do ? lin will lead the league in assists

in d'antoni's system, he is not more valuable than novak offensively and he sure isnt slowing down calderon, evans or even kobe like shump/fields can.
did you not notice how good fields is doing next to linsanity? career high in assists, led the team in scoring and had a double-double.
he avgd 6 assists and 8 boards in the last games.

j.r. is a good fit though. he can shoot and handle the ball in pick and rolls. that's what the knicks need. i agree that the on paper thinking is faulty. that's why amar'e and melo suck together. their games don't mesh. but j.r. fills a need. didn't want kenyon martin because i know that he and carmelo were redundant together in denver.

he is more valuable than novak, do you know why ? because hes a natural 2, and that means melo and stat can still be on the floor when he is there. also, smith is not just a spot up shooter. he can penetrate to the basket, or you can set a back screen and he can go get a lob. you do not realize how good he is and what a threat like that can mean to this offense as far as keeping the floor spaced and giving lin, melo, and stat room to operate.

yep, knicks fans are underestimating him. he is a good starting 2 guard in the NBA. skill set wise, he has very few weaknesses if any. i'm excited. teanet also didn't want tyson chandler fwiw.
