I don't think it has anything to do with "liking", just don't wanna try something new.
My biggest knock on D'antoni is that he is stubborn, if he thinks something he will not willingly change.
That's how we ended up getting him here in the first place, because PHX wanted defense, and Chicago was weighing their options.
D'antoni really had to eat crow because his star player, the one who partly helped gut his "beloved" team suggested to play the kid.
Had he not been on the hot seat, we'd never have seen Lin play like this.
But now, if it isn't a blowout, he won't provide him adequate rest, and I'm not too fond of that.
