Default Lawrence Frank likes 3-guard option

The Detroit News reports:

Necessity is often the mother of experimentation for an NBA coach, so Lawrence Frank wasn't exactly reinventing the wheel when he used a three-guard lineup in the fourth quarter Wednesday against the Celtics.

Rodney Stuckey was the attacker, Brandon Knight the steady hand, and Ben Gordon the finisher, hitting three 3-pointers to close out a 98-88 victory.

It's a dangerous lineup to use because defensively Gordon and Knight aren't big guards. Frank, however, won't rule out using it again.

"It's a little tougher (at times), but it's something we can do," Frank said. "Especially when BG's rolling and into the game on both ends. It gives you more options."

Default Re: Lawrence Frank likes 3-guard option

I think he likes it because he realizes he has 3 guys who need PT. Other than that small ball only works in certain situations for small stretches of a game. I think it's been proven that the small ball method doesn't work consistently. It just happened to be a game where BG was on fire and he really didn't have much of a choice but to stick with those guys. I hope Knight continues to get PT. He needs to step his game up a bit. He's shown signs of being a good PG, but there's been plenty of other young guys who have played better than him so far. I need to see him be more consistent.
