On that note, JR Smith needs to get a lot more of Fields' minutes. He can handle the ball and create for himself perfectly fine.

Sarcastic, would you cut Landry Fields if given the chance? I'm just curious.

Not this year at his present salary. I would play him at his natural position though, which is small forward.

If we have to choose between the two, you easily take JR.

JR is better on both sides of the floor. Actually, JR is better at just about every aspect of basketball besides rebounding.

After re-signing Lin this offseason, JR needs to be more of a priority than Fields. We need to see if we can get him to settle for less money.

JR signed a two year deal with us, although the second is a player option.

Fields has nothing to do with JR's future.

The fact D'antoni is giving him an important role this soon has to be sitting with JR pretty well.

I would give Fields about 1 or 1.5 million. Anything over that is way overpriced. If he tries to get 5 million or something crazy, then let him walk.

Shumpert's bound to cut into his minutes.

I think Melo should have been bringing the ball up against the Heat after Lin's horrible start. I also think we should have moved the ball a little before giving it to Lin,that way defense couldn't have been so concentrated on him.

This game also showed us one scary thing which we already knew.
D'Antoni's system is completely dependent on point guard play. If they lock Lin down the whole team will look miserable.
Luckily there are only a few teams good and athletic enough to do that.

I still think we need a knew coach as soon as possible.

Not really, Shumpert usually comes in for Lin, then switches over into Fields spot.

JR is still gonna get 25 minutes a game, Fields might be the odd man out, not of the rotation, but seeing his minutes cut.

Don't feel bad, the Heat have done this to everyone's pg.

Out of curiosity, what team doesn't really rely on pg play?

Outside of the teams with the top five players, all of them do.

Every team relies on pg play but there's no team that relies on it as much as the Knicks.

D'Antoni's team without a point guard = crap no matter who's on the roster

I'm almost sure D'Antoni will ruin the best team we had in more than a decade.

The best two teams I can think of that don't have good PG play are the Lakers, who are desperate for one but in the mean time make up for it with two future HOFers and one of the greatest ever in The Bean; and the Orlando Magic, who have the best big man in the league and Hedo, who is a very good point forward. They're very reliant on the three ball though, and a good point guard (Nash) would really open up that offense.

Well, he's no Sebastian Telfair...

He's a pretty sorry PG. That's why Dwight wants to upgrade to D-Will so bad. He'd be better suited as a sixth man, a role wherein he wouldn't have to worry so much about creating for others.

thats like saying my Mercedes is shitty because i want a Bentley. I think every team not named the Bulls or Clippers would want to upgrade to DWill.
