The Jays are owned by the evil Rogers empire, that's gotta be enough to keep hipsters away right? RIGHT???

Kelly Johnson is making a fan out of me. 5 for 14 with 4 walks and a home run in the opening series.

Also - Snider missed his second straight game. I can't find any news on why, but concerning.

Yeah Carreno's spot comes up much later on in the month, hopefully Laffey is just used for mop-up duty in the meantime.

Didn't really understand the lack of commitment the Jays seemed to show to Johnson in the offseason. Other than his age, there was really nothing but upside to keeping him on this season, worst case scenario he hits exactly at the same clip that Hill was doing the last couple of seasons.

Been very impressed with Arecibia's defense so far (gunning Choo from his knees was great to watch). If he can bump that OBP above .300, I'd be ecstatic.

Re: Johnson: they preferred the picks, but those got scuttled with the new CBA. I think the Jays see Hechvarria and Escobar filling the SS and 2B spots sooner than later.

I do like Johnson, though.

I think Cordero is going to be the reliever that makes me most nervous this year. I don't really know why. Probably the declining strikeout rates.

That was a garbage performance by the offense with a big assist to Santos not being able to throw a decent strike.

If you told me the Jays gave up 4 runs to the Red Sox and Doubront was pitching, I'd be happy and assume they must've won the game. It's not like you're facing Lester.

Shame about the blown save but the Jays offense has to get going. 2 runs against a back end pitcher is inexcusable (though he wasn't exactly dominating out there).

I'm really hoping for a breakout from Snider and continued awesomenss from D'Arnaud. I'm not very optimistic about the long-term future of Thames and Arencibia as everyday starters. Lind will be here whether we like it or not so no point in talking about him. The rest of the lineup doesn't concern me much.

Agree on Thames. I like Arencibia though.
Personally I'd like to see Arencibia and D'Arnaud playing together.
I can see Lind and Arencibia platooning at first with Arecibia and D'arnaud splitting catching duties.

Something like
Lind for 120 games at first
D'Arnaud with 120 games catching.
Arencibia with 40 games at each of 1B, catcher and DH.
Snider and EE can platoon in left and EE can DH the rest of the time.

The platoon is really something this team should utilize as Lind, Snider and Thames suck against lefties.

I just think the moment you move JP from catcher, he becomes an awful player. Him being able to play C is the only reason his bat is tolerable as an every day guy.

If it comes down to a strict platoon, I'd rather have someone cheap like Ben Francisco as the righty and dangle JP to a team that needs help at catcher.

He hit 300 in 2008 and 2010.
if he can hit 270 with 25-30 hrs and 80-90 rbis his bat gives enough value to keep him around.

If Lind continues his suckage, and Rasmus and Snider do well, I could very well see Bautista going to 1B.

I hope that both Davis and Francisco are in the lineup tomorrow with Lind and Thames sitting (EE at 1B).
