Romo isn't free of blame either. He completely choked the Jets and Lions games away.

Luck and RGIII will take 3 or 4 years to develop.

Luck is like 4 or 5 months younger than Stafford is RIGHT NOW.

Luck will not take 3-4 years to show what he's worth.

He also put a shit ton of points up on both of those teams though...yeah, he threw some bad INTs at really bad times in those games...but that isn't the reason the whole reason for the losses.

Romo had much less INTs than Eli...Eli ALSO threw away games with INTs...no one remembers those though....IT HAPPENS!!!

Romo will throw ints next year too...as well as every QB.

I love how everyone just assumes Luck and RG3 will be studs right away...

Like busts never happen...

Cam Newton.....Andy Dalton.........

And they were worse prospects than RG3 and Luck..

I know there are many 1st round QB's that have busted but let's not act like there hasn't been some good one's taken either.

.....and with past "busts," you can look back and tell why it was.

Jamarcus wasn't accurate and had questionable character.

Vince Young had a weird throwing motion and showed little pocket passing ability.

Lienart had a weak arm.

Alex Smith has made a resurgence so I'm not ready to call him a bust yet.

I don't think Luck has any of those attributes of a bust. He has played in a professional type offense, he has shown pocket passing ability, he has great athleticism, he's smart, accurate, about as much experience as you could ask for from a rookie qb, tall/big.

sure, Luck and RG3 could both go on to be HOFers...no doubt

but it isn't a given

QBs to go in the top 5: (later than 07 a bit early I think...STILL might be too early for Alex Smith)

2007:
1st: Jamarcus Russell

2006:
3rd: Vince Young

2005:
1st: Alex Smith

2004:
1st: Eli Manning
4th: Phillp Rivers

2003:
1st: Carson Palmer

2002:
1st: David Carr
3rd: Joey Harrington

2001:
1st: Mike Vick

2000:
none

1999:
1st: Tim Couch
2nd: Donovan McNabb
3rd: Akili Smith

ALL of those things were said about Ryan Leaf, minus the smarts lol

regardless of the fact that Leaf had major character flaws, his athleticism in college didn't ever come out in the NFL

I'm not saying that Luck will be Leaf...but I am just pointing out that those things don't always equate like you think in the NFL

Carbine, we both made threads stating we weren't that impressed with Luck...you should be one that understands he might not be "the next Peyton"

I also think that Luck has to work on his throwing motion...he has a slow release IMO right now

obviously that will imrove in the NFL though...

Romo's release:

Luck's release:

Romo has a MUCH quicker release than Luck in college...but I understand that isn't really fair to Luck being in college still.

Well, first of all, Leaf had serious character issues. That's big when your the face of the franchise.

I wasn't impressed based on the best prospect since Manning status he was given(like he was on some LeBron type sh!t or something) because I didn't see it.

But he's about as bullet proof of a prospect as there is at quarterback. He's going to be at least a good quarterback.

I would take Romo easily if he shown to be a better leader. That's the difference between him and Eli. While not all of it is Romo's fault, he doesn't possess the leadership skills that other QB's do that have won championships.

I think Luck will be good too, and if I had to bet I would say he WILL see some probowls...however I don't think it is a given like everyone else that he will be elite

Romo is actually very very vocal, he does his share of yelling...but he probably does have room to grow there I admitt
