where you from? the hamptons?

I am from the middle class, and I'm fairly liberal, and yes alot of the current structure of benefits to the upper class is very lopsided in terms of balance.

Do you have anything constructive to say, or is your tinfoil hat also affecting your ability to think??

There's a big difference between disagreeing with the imbalance of wealth in America, and thinking inflation is a big-business conspiracy and basic theory of marginal cost vs. marginal revenue setting price is really just the rich drinking the blood of the poor.

LOL you've never heard of companies collaborating with eachother and "price fixing"

Yes I'm well aware of cartel economics and not only its effects on price and efficiency, but also the U.S. government's efforts against it.

Inflation is proof of the inability of a central banking system and government intervention to work. It is built into the current banking system. Stop giving banks special licenses to create money while producing nothing.

One more thing, free market my ass. I read alot recently about the food supply in the US.. something like 4 companies own all the meat distributors in the US. Thats uncanny. Also us controlling wheat during the great depression to keep prices high. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wickard_v._Filburn

wheat back then = gas now. tell me they aint controlling gas now with their bs speculations.

ps has anyone seen "in time" youll know what i mean.

The price of soda would be dropping if we had sound (aka precious metal) money, and if we actually had a free market. You're correct when you point out that we have crony capitalism, and not actual capitalism. You're correct that it's now easier to produce soda and it should be cheaper. You have to look at the governments influence on the market to understand why.

If we did have capitalism, the price of everything would be much lower. Wages would be lower too, but not in real terms. Families could be living well on just one income, as opposed to barely scraping by with two. There'd be more businesses, and it'd be easier to start your own business. More small shops, more enterpreneurs, and more choices. More jobs and less unemployment.

You need a smaller government to really let the markets operate. You can't have an income tax as high as we currently do, or better yet, don't have one at all.

Everything the government does beyond enforcing contracts, running the courts, and providing national defense hurts the economy. And by running the courts and providing defense, I don't mean adding 40,000 new laws in just one month and starting offensive wars on a whim.

totally. just look how high income tax has skyrocketed recently (especially under obama). without such high income taxes, people would want to create new business and jobs like they did back in the good ole days when income taxes were really low.

Oddly, your chart doesn't show the first 100+ years of our nation, when we had no income tax at all, coinciding with us becoming the most powerful economy in the world. Odd indeed.

And that's misleading anyway. Nobody paid the high tax rates in the 40's 50's and 60's. There were more loopholes and deductions. Rich people who understand both systems will tell you, they'd rather have the old one than this one. Because they'd be paying less, not more.

you clearly have no idea how the world works. you have this childlike naivety that is either funny or tragic. if rich people actually preferred the old system, we would be using it.

the problem is payroll taxes, and business's are also taxed on income of that pay(withholding). Each employee hired also costs a fortune in workers comp, which also affects unemployment insurance costs as well. all of that is based on employee wages. it all varies depending on state, but just think of business's having to pay all of those costs for each and every employee they hire...

income tax is nothing compared to the costs of employee's in terms of business expenses altho its probably different for each industry.
