At all the Redskin fans who sound like they're talking about Redskins success coming in the near future. You're still in one of the best divisions in football. You know Philly's coming back hard after that disappointment. The Redskins are still gonna be dead last in the division.

Why, because Washington gave up twice as much as the Raiders? RG3 is talented but there's no such thing as a sure thing at QB. Look at how the Hershel Walker trade blew up on Minnesota, the failure of the Saints' Ricky Williams deal. Football is too much of a team game to be trading 3 firsts and a second for 1 first. You can easily miss on a "great" QB prospect, look at Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Tim Couch and so many others.

yes

if history has taught us anything, we should all know that the odds are one of either Luck or RG3 will "bust"

it would be very rare for both of them to hit...although it could happen

both of these QBs have a whole lot of expectations to live up to, that's for sure...

1st round picks?

like half the starting NFL came out of the first round...they are worth a ton.

just look at a probowl roster...most were first round picks, probably like 75% of them.

if you want to build a teamfrom the ground up you have to do it through the draft...look at the 90s Cowboys...all drafted cept Deion (who was first round)

The Packer had like 6 1st rounders starting or playing for them on offense/defense in their superbowl year.

Rodgers
Woodson
Raji
Buluga
Matthews
Hawk

The Patriots aren't built on a lot of 1st rounders.

In the Peyton era we had Wayne, Clark, Manning, Freeney, Addai & Marlin Jackson while he was here. Couple others that barely ever played like Donald Brown and Anthony Gonzalez.

1st round picks are only as good as your scouting department and talent evaluators.

Uh, gave up twice as much?

Redskins lost: 2 1st rounders, 1 2nd rounder
Raiders lost: 1 1st rounder, 2 2nd rounders

for their QB. The difference is that Palmer was already in the league 8 years and showed noticable decline in his physical skills. His arm looks noticably weaker than when he was drafted and he can't really move around a lot. More than half of his starting NFL career was over (the better half) at the time he was acquired. OAK wasn't making an investment for a QB to have 10+ years.

Griffin shows remarkably high immeasurables in areas like leadership and smarts. His impact will be on every facet of the offense and in other areas of the organization. Spending what we did on a rookie is way more responsible than someone that time hasn't been kind to in Palmer. You can't think scared just because of recent history or bad luck. That's a fan mentality. An NFL exec has to be confident in their team's instincts and scouting abilities.

If the conviction is there to bring in a guy who will change the franchise and is projected to be highly successful at the next level, you do what you can to secure him. Esp a franchise QB. As bad as WSH has been recently, they were never bad enough to naturally be in position to grab college prospect #1 or 2. This was the time to make a move like this and the iron was hot to strike on an elite generational talent at the QB position. Having a bright eager mind with sub 4.4 speed and an accurate deep ball with no glaring weaknesses run your offense doesn't come around very often.

The Skins will not regret this move from a football OR business stance. Washington has a superstar on their team, it's been awhile.

that's just the NFC...about half of them came out of the first round

so just based on this little thing, your odds of finding probowl talent are about 50% in the first round...and 50% ALL the other other rounds

it is a very substantial difference, the odds out finding talented outside the first round vs. in the first round

O wow, you're actually making ANOTHER point pertaining to team success using The Pro Bowl as a point of refereence.

Everybody knows that 1st rounders are the preemo currency in long term NFL success, greater than that of free agency dollars.

However, losing 2 1sts is not an unwise price for a franchise QB. Ask GB if they would give up 2 1sts to keep Rodgers on their team instead of losing him, no hesitation.

If the Skins are so stupid, explain to me why multiple teams were willing to make an offer just like the Skins did?

Apparently Cleveland was willing to give up 3 firsts, so glad we got the pick becuz the execs in the organizations are homeboys

You're comparing RGIII who hasnt taken one snap to arguably the best QB in the NFL? You're not that bright at all.

Whatever point you were attempting to make? It failed.

His point was that a franchise QB is worth the cost

He never said RG3 was Rodgers. Leave it to GOBB to twist someone else's words
