Re: Thoughts on if the Lakers will do anything by trade deadline?
I think they're just afraid to add $ to their cap. Of course Pau and Kobe's contract just has them in an awful spot longterm either way. If they want to be competitive long term they need to move Pau.
Re: Thoughts on if the Lakers will do anything by trade deadline?
I think they really want to move Pau but they are looking for the best deal. If we keep Pau on the team we are going to be strapped by the salary cap for a long time into him and Kobe retire. You have to think about it, Bynum is going to be looking for a long term deal also. Pau has to get moved now if not we may be stuck with that contract for a while.
Re: Thoughts on if the Lakers will do anything by trade deadline?
the Lakers have gotten spoiled with an array of superstar players over the years. There is all this talk about Howard or Rondo or D-Will or whoever.
but what people forget is the Lakers have a big 3. and it's a great big-3.
Re: Thoughts on if the Lakers will do anything by trade deadline?
With the West being kind of in shambles right now, why not try to get a player with the exception and roll the dice from there? Other than OKC, is there a team that the Lakers should fear? Dallas is weakened, San Antonio doesn't have the size, the Clippers don't have enough experience and Memphis' best player will be coming off an injury.
The Lakers' biggest advantage in the playoffs will be their size. Gasol and Bynum still are a match up nightmare.

How is it unlikely now?
From the begining of the season he has been shop'd.. traded.. and then shop'd some mo'. Its been confirmed that the Lakers have been at least in limited talks with Orlando, Boston, Houston, Minnesota, and possibly Golden State.
Willingness to trade him, at the very least has been shown. Also, Gasol is seriously looking like a malcontent now.. whimpering around getting upset over a diminishing role and being actively shopped.
Im not saying that he will get traded because Its difficult to put together trades in the NBA but its looking more than likely that hell be gone if an amicable deal can be reached. Seems like they are pushing that line of no return.
