I remember that game as I do most tourney games in the 80's and 90's and Western had an excellent chance to win that game. Purdue was overseeded as they got beat by Georgia, the 8th seed the next game.

One of the few teams I haven't seen a second of this year is Southern Miss. I was really tempted to put Kansas State in the Sweet 16 after Fab Melo was ruled ineligible. They were up 9 or 10 on Southern Miss but Neil Watson came of the bench and scored 10 points to get USM back in the game. He's kind of impressed me.

In a region where the best teams lack real quality size, Murray State could wreak some havoc.

Like K State, they're a strange team. Don't do anything great, not very fluid offensively. If they can continue to keep KSU out of the paint...no small task given the size differential... they'll have a shot.

I hate how this is referred to as the "second round" now. I'll never get used to it.

Louisville has defenders out the ass. Besides the obvious Siva and Dieng (who blocks shots with his elbow), they come at you with Chris Smith, Swopshire, Blackshear...all great defenders.

Davidson is 12th (78.4 ppg) in the nation in scoring but only 25 pts at the half.

Rodney McGruder is quietly putting together an outstanding game. He's got 30 points on 11/17 shooting. Samuels and Spradling (K-State's second and third leading scorers) have combined for two points. McGruder is carrying K-State and then some and that also explains why Southern Miss is hanging around despite shooting just 36% from the floor. If Srpadling and Samuels were giving K-State their usual offensive output this game wouldn't be that close.

Do it UNCA, do it. I'm tired of that damn Western Carolina/Purdue 16 vs 1 replay.

Even without Melo Syracuse is too big, too athletic. Can't envision them not making the Sweet 16, but I think that's where it'll end.
