Default Collins says Sixers looked "disconnected" in loss to Spurs

Philadelphia Inquirer:

This is not the point in the season when the 76ers expected to hear their coach using negative adjectives to describe their recent play.

But following a loss Sunday to a shorthanded San Antonio Spurs team that was playing its third game in as many nights, the Sixers' subpar play left Doug Collins with precious few words other than the one he used most frequently on Monday to describe them.

"We looked disconnected," Collins said at practice. "When we are connected mentally, physically and spiritually we have a great vibe about ourselves. [Sunday] that wasn't the case. We were looking around and we were like, 'Who's going to do it?' We can't play that way."

Collins was referring to the team's 93-76 loss to the Spurs. Playing their first game of the season without starting small forward Andre Iguodala, idled by a sore left knee, the Sixers (27-22) scored only 27 points in the second half - just 11 in the fourth quarter - against a tired Spurs team. And San Antonio even opted to rest Tim Duncan.
