Default Nick Young a Clipper

Olshey dealt Brian Cook and a 2nd Round Pick to the Wizards for Nick Young, in a 3-team deal. Young was a star at Cleveland High School in Reseda and rivaled Jordan Farmar who went to Taft in Woodland Hills. Young and Gabe Pruitt also gave the Trojans a nice NC2A Tournament run

He is real upgrade over Foye. Hopefully now that he is a Clipper and he's home he will play more under control and more unselfish.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

The Clippers' acquisition of shooting guard Nick Young in a three-way deal with Washington and Denver on Thursday won't cure all the ills that have dropped them to second behind the Lakers in the division and into a battle for the fourth spot in the West. But the price of seldom-used forward Brian Cook and the 2015 second-round draft pick they got in the Chris Paul trade was a relative steal for a shooting guard who can provide needed size in the backcourt, another legitimate scoring option and capable defense when he's challenged.

"You're not going to replace a Chauncey Billups, his experience and his leadership and what he brings to the court," Coach Vinny Del Negro said. "I think Nick will give us another explosive scorer out there."

The deal wasn't finalized until two hours before the Clippers squandered a 17-point lead over the Steve Nash-less Phoenix Suns in a 91-87 loss at Staples Center that left them 9-11 since Billups exited the lineup. Young, who averaged 16.6 points per game on 40.6% shooting for the woeful Wizards, isn't expected to make his Clippers debut until Tuesday.

Los Angeles Times reports:

The three-team deal was completed when the Clippers got Young from the Wizards and sent Brian Cook and a 2015 second-round pick to Washington. The Clippers were able to fit Young into their $3.8-million trade exception they got for trading Eric Gordon to New Orleans in the Chris Paul deal.

The Wizards got center Nene from the Denver Nuggets for Wizards center JaVale McGee and forward Ronny Turiaf.

Young, known to be a scorer, was averaging 16.6 points a game for the Wizards this season, and he has a career average of 11.6 points over four seasons. He was shooting 40.6% from the field, 37.1% from three-point range, this season.

Young started the first 32 games for Washington but was coming off the bench the last eight because of a falling-out with Wizards Coach Randy Wittman. Young will start for the Clippers

Arash Markazi: Nick Young was impressed there was breakfast in the Clippers' locker room pregame. "We didn't have that in Washington. It's different here." Twitter

The best thing about this trade is that it gives Del Negro another SF option off the bench not named Ryan Gomes. Last night he was coming in for Butler... I mean there isn't one thing Gomes does better than Nick other than brick 15 foot shots. He's the Sensei of that lost art, I'll give him that.

Young's size is a big part of why he was such a good addition. I wouldn't even mind Butler being benched for Nick if he's stinking it up as well
