I'll take the Sox pitching over the Angels.

I are Liriano turning it around and being rejuvenated like Youkilis has been for the Stox. With 3 dangerous lefties it gives the Sox a huge advantage. Now for the last spot in the rotation I don't know who it will be. Humber, Floyd, and Danks when he comes back will make it a tough choice.

Reds lose Votto for a few weeks, so what do they do? Go on a 9 game winning streak. Next highest winning streak currently is 5 games in the MLB.

Chapman coming in the ninth has shut everything down since getting those blown saves back in June.

Chapman since his blown saves...

13.1 IP
5 Hits
3 BB
32 K
0.00 ERA

Much closer then you want to think. It's ok, everyone makes mistakes.

I don't need to look at stats. I just don't buy one season of success over career numbers. Sale is having an outstanding season, but if I wanna win now, big game, I'm taking Weaver 100 out 100 times. Peavy over Wilson? Sure. Never liked Wilson. Seriously comparing Greinke over Quintana? A bonafide ace over a rookie? A guy who ks a batter an inning over a rookie that gets 5ks/9?

So to recap

Weaver > Sale (not to discredit Sale in any way, but Weaver is having a better year and is the better pitcher)
Peavy > Wilson (until Peavy lands on the DL and his stats are finally catching up to his peripherals)
Greinke > Quintana by a very wide margin (FIp 3.74 xFIP 4.05)
Haren > Floyd (career 3.65 versus career 4.49 - Haren's bad year is comparable to Floyd average year, that's all you need to know)
Santana = Liriano, Humber, Danks (and that's only because Santana is a COMPLETE mess right now; otherwise it wouldn't be a contest unless Rookie Liriano somehow reappears)

It's not close, believe me, it's okay, everyone makes mistakes...

I see where you're coming from but I am not talking about comparing careers. I mean just for this season. All you need is hot pitching down the stretch and into the playoffs to know that you can win a WS like that. The ChiSox did it like that in 05 and this current pitching stuff resembles it

And lets see what greinke does in his return to the AL to see if his stats stay the same. Going by this year the pitching staffs are comparable except the Sox are more deep if they need to be.

That's a great arm for the crumbs that the Sox had to give up. With the coaching staff that the Sox have, I will bet they get more out of him than the Twins were getting.

Doesn't ensure White Sox fans the division, but this does make me sleep a little better knowing that the rotation is a Liriano deeper. It has been a really fun season so far. All I, and all the other White Sox fans can do is hope it keeps on going. Regardless, it isn't the lost season that many projected.

The Diamondbacks have acquired 3b Chris Johnson from the Astros for Bobby Borchering and Marc Krauss.

Hell of a return for the Astros, Borchering is a pretty damn good prospect and Krauss is decent as well. Luhnow is doing a great job as GM so far.

Also, the Padres signed Huston Street to a 2 year/14 million dollar extension with a 3rd year team option for 7 million.

Brandon League traded to an unknown team. Rumors are that it may be the Giants but nothing is confirmed. Mariners are one ball club that wanted Brandon Belt badly.

Edit - so much for him being traded; he's throwing in the game right now for the Mariners...

Braves complete the sweep over the Phillies. Not really what Philly wanted or needed if they wanted any hope of making a run and at least working their way into the wildcard race.

Now, just need the Brewers to hold on and beat the Nationals, and we'll have picked up two games on them this weekend.

Since Votto has been out with injury the Reds have won 10 straight. Talk about picking up the slack.
