I've been reading that its a long shot that the Phillies let go of Lee, but the Dodgers are being pretty aggressive so who know what they're going to try to offer.

The Dodgers have cash; they'd be silly to offer anything more. With the way Philadelphia structured the salaries, Lee has close to negative trade value at this point.

LA, and maybe 3 or 4 other teams can take on that kind of salary risk for a pitcher's age 34, 35 and 36 seasons.

It figures that the Christmas after I get a Suzuki jersey he gets traded.

Wish him luck. His bat never came back around which is a shame but he's great behind the plate. We'll miss his game calling.

Because everyone goes on waivers. From stars to scrubs. You just don't hear about it, cause the teams pull 'em back once they are claimed. Fews reasons why. To gauge trade interest is one of the reason. Some times, teams want to just get rid of contracts (look at Alex Rios). Once a player is claimed, the team can negotiate a trade with the claiming team or can just simply pull the player back. They can only do that once, after that it would be irrevocable waivers. If a player goes through waivers unclaimed, team can choose to trade the player until August 31st. If Blanton went unclaimed (which people thought he would, but didn't), Phillies could negotiate a trade with any team and take some of the salary. In this case, Phillies don't have to take any salary as he was claimed by the Dodgers...

I can't remember the last time a single team has had the amount of injuries at one time as the Blue Jays have right now.

They are playing without their everyday RF (Bautista), 3B (Lawrie), CF (Rasmus) and C (Arencibia). I guess Lind (DH/1B) is injured too but he's terrible so I don't name him with the other guys.

Morrow, Hutchison and Drabek (he was garbage anyways though) are out of the starting rotation.

Santos, Frasor and Perez are out of the bullpen. That's 3 of the top 5 relievers on the team.

What a crap season.

Last night Aroldis Chapman hit McCutchen with a 101 MPH Fastball (On purpose, IMO but w/e) and 'Cutch didn't even flinch or show a sign of any pain, showing us what a complete badass he is.

In other news the Reds win again tonight against the Pirates. Pulling away even further in the N.L. Central race. Chapman came in, struck out 2 like usual. 54 innings pitched this year and 100 strikeouts for Chapman.
