Seems to really have calmed down. We'll see what happens when he gives up a big inning, but this is encouraging to see.
All things considered, great Start from Drabek. He's still a work in progress, but that was real encouraging, especially when you consider the competition, and how bad he got rocked by them the last time he faced them. He got away from himself in the 3rd and corrected himself, which is a huge sign of growth.
Normally I would think 3 walks in 5 innings isn't good at all but considering it's against the Red Sox lineup, I'll take it from Drabek. I still wonder whatever happened to that highly touted wipeout curveball everyone was once talking about. You barely see it anymore.

He threw it a couple times for strikes tonight. I'd have to think they're more worried about FB command right now than anything else. Everything else is secondary to that. He has enough pitches to get by without it for now.
He's never been a big K guy at any level, though so I wouldn't expect a ton at the MLB level.
Trevor Cahill's D-Backs debut started out rocky, but he's gotten out of some big jams and is dealing right now. His changeup is nasty.
As the resident pirates fan how would you feel about Elvis andrus and Neil Ramirez for mccutcheon this coming offseason? Elvis would have two years left on his contract then

While that's not a bad package, I don't want to trade McCutchen, the Pirates just gave him a nice extension and I want him to be a Pirate for a while, he's the face of the franchise.

That would be a ripoff. McCutchen right now is likely already better than Andrus will ever be and they just signed him to a great contract. I doubt the Pirates would have to think long to decline that kind of a deal. Andrus is good too but McCutchen is just that good.
