The Los Angeles Dodgers have been awarded a waiver claim on Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, and there is a growing possibility that Gonzalez could be headed to L.A., multiple baseball sources said Friday.
Dodgers won the claim on Josh Beckett, I'm assuming if the Dodgers work out a trade for Gonzalez, they will have to take on Beckett as well. Still don't think it's going to happen. The Dodgers don't have the assets for someone like A-Gon IMO.
A mystery team has claimed Justin Upton off of waivers, but I doubt he's going anywhere.
Apparently a deal is close, Dodgers would get Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto (As an earlier poster already said), some of the players being kicked around that would go to the Red Sox are Zach Lee, Jerry Sands, Allen Webster and Ruby De La Rosa.
I'm sorry, but the Dodgers are nuts to take on Crawford and Beckett, and to give up prospects like Webster and Lee to boot. While getting Adrian Gonzalez is obviously huge, having to take on Crawford and give up quality prospects is a bit nuts. But the Dodgers are throwing money around like crazy, so who knows.
