I wasn't saying the fact they were mentioning it as a possibility meant they didn't know baseball. The fact that they were saying aramis Ramirez should get in if he does meant they didn't know baseball. You might as well come out and say I don't understand park effects or defense.

He's just wildly inconsistent, he's got good stuff and can be almost dominant at times (he has a 8.5 K per 9 innings this year), but he's just too inconsistent.

The entire season has been one long shit-show after April. It just keeps piling on.

At this point, just play all the youngsters and tank the season away. Toronto sports fans should be very familiar with the concept of tanking by now.

Felix is enjoying one of the most dominant stretched that I can remember.

10 starts, 11 earned runs, 81 innings pitched for an average of 8.1 innings per start.....perfect game, 5 shutouts......holy shit.

Seems like he just inexplicably lost control of his fastball some games.

The AL Cy Young race is going to be a close one between Hernandez and Verlander. It's nice to see it, probably, come down to the, IMO, two best pitchers in the entire league.

Verlander could get a boost in the race if the Tigers make the playoffs. Which really would be unfair because team performance should mean nothing in an individual award like the Cy Young. But hey, it won him the MVP last year from a couple more deserving players.

Since Felix has started his hot streak the Mariners have also been one of the better teams in baseball. They're 10 games over .500 since the All-Star break. As has been mentioned, team play shouldn't really factor into an individual award like this, but maybe the Mariners recent play can give Felix a boost as well.

The front office is already getting asked a bunch of questions and are being put under pressure to lock up Stanton. Before the season I read that they want to see how he does in the new place and for a while his HR splits were about equal home/away. Obviously that's changed (mostly due to him tearing up the NL West), but everything else shows that the home park isn't limiting him (OPS is virtually even home/away). Should be enough for the guys upstairs to get the hint to sign him, but you never know.
