Not to mention we sport a nice 20-9 record versus the AL West.
They aren't up to par. No team in the central would make the playoffs if they were in the other divisions.

Is that still possible?

I mean, if it were down to the the A's and O's in the one game playoff and the A's win, would they still play Texas if the Rangers have the best record? The way the old format was, the WCteam wouldn't play its division winner in the first round. I'd assume it would stay the same way after the one game playoff was played.

MLB changed the format allowing teams from the same division to play in the LDS.
Quote:
Changes to the Postseason format include the following:

Clubs from the same division will be allowed to play one another in either the Wild Card Game or the Division Series.
Tiebreaker games will be played to determine Division Championships, even if the two tied Clubs are assured of participating in the Postseason. If a Division Championship tiebreaker game is necessary, the head-to-head record between the tied Clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then division record will be the next tiebreaker.
If two Clubs are tied for both Wild Card berths, home-field advantage will be determined by the head-to-head record between the tied Clubs. If the head-to-head record is tied, then division record will be the next tiebreaker.

Detroit is 14-9 against the Twins/Royals this season. Hopefully that win number increases a lot.

Miggy with #41 tonight. Just one away for being tied for the triple crown with two weeks left in the season.

Nationals almost pulled another win out of their ass tonight. Why'd the Braves have to lose in extras last night? I know it'd be a longshot but we'd only be 4 back. Still, Braves have won 5 of 6 and the Nationals have lost 4 of 5 and the Braves have a sweep of the Nats in there.

Oh, and Kris Medlen pitched another shutout. He's been Cy Young caliber since being moved to the rotation.

10 GS, 70.2 IP, 6 ER, 72 SO, 9 BB, 0.77 ERA, 0.78 WHIP

Two CG Shutouts
Two 8 INN Shutouts
Two 7 INN Shutouts

Can a player make 11-12 starts and win the Cy Young or at least finish top 3-5? Because he's certainly making a case.

If he throws a couple more CG SHOs then he could crack the top 5. Still not enough innings though.

The tides are turning on young Mr. Trout. I've been reading about and listening to cases declaring Miggy for MVP on ESPN and sports radio. Of course most people who know better don't listen to them most of the time, but they do have a tendency to dictate how things are going to start looking on a national scale.

Trout has been living off a phenomenal June and July. His numbers aren't so MVP since then. Meanwhile Miggy is on fire.

To act as if only people who don't know better would consider a potential Triple Crown winner as the MVP is not only pompous, but it's just plain wrong too.

Like it usually happens, all a good player needs to do is create a good "story" in September to grab the MVP vote. It happened last year when voters penalized Bautista and Ellsbury because their teammates weren't good enough. It's happened in the past when other undeserving guys like Morneau, Tejada, Rollins and several others have won. It looks like it's happening again because Trout has to hit behind lesser players.

Trout should be the runaway pick for the MVP but voters haven't really smartened up to look beyond RBIs just yet. If you forced me to bet all my money, I'd say Cabrera will win it.
