This will probably get lost in the World Series talk, but came across this on a Braves board, and I know we've got some Pirates fans on here that probably aren't too happy about this and never have been.
Yeah, got who knows how many millions dollars invested in those prospects and you've them doing things like sliding drills in the dark at 5 a.m. while the coaches try to jump over them. How and why it's been allowed to be continued over the years is beyond me.

When Pagan's chopper hit the third base bag, with two outs-nobody on, it was on Verlander's 50th pitch. Finished the inning with 70 pitches.
A stupid ball that hits the 3B bag and takes a weird bounce leads to a four run inning. I've bitched about the Cardinals getting all these ridiculous type breaks the last two postseasons, but it appears the Giants are starting to rival them this year.
I can't believe the Giants have a chance to win 2 World Series in 3 seasons. Aren't they one of the lowest payroll teams in MLB?
They're like the new Marlins but with better front office. Don't think they blew up their roster from 2 seasons ago.
Yeah, the roster is more or less the same, except Cain and Lincecum have kinda switched roles, although Lincecum is worse right now as a starter than Cain was in 2010.
The Giants are just a weird team if they end up winning it all. You look up and down their lineup and there's a whole lot of "meh" names. Posey is a stud, obviously, and Sandoval is a good player. Pence as well when he's on, but he's cold right now. But now Marco Scutaro is locked into 1940s Ted Williams mode and Barry Zito has turned the clock back 10 years and is pitching like 2002 Barry Zito.
I don't know...even if they win it, and despite having 94 wins in the regular season, they'll still be one of those "bleh" type championship teams I forget about in 10 years.
The roster is actually very different. Only two position players (Posey, Sandoval) playing tonight were playing on that 2010 team. The rotation is what has remained consistent though. It wasn't a roster blow up like people are accustomed to, but gradual changes like the calling up of Crawford and Belt.
