David Price has just won the AL Cy Young Award.

They're about to announce the NL Winner.

I find it hard to believe that he will have attitude problems, even though the Marlins sold off Hanley (one of his best friends) and others at the trade deadline he still played hard and wanted to win on a shitty team. Maybe the tax thing will be an issue, but I'm sure people have found ways to lighten the impact on that somehow with residency statuses or something.

As for the Cy Young voting, they really couldn't have gone wrong with any candidates, but both Price and Dickey are great guys who deserved it this year.

Verlander deserved it. It's funny how he had a season pretty much just as good as last year's and hardly anyone will ever talk about it simply because of team wins.

I called it though. The 20 wins got Price the award.

EDIT: Just looked at the voting. Two idiots (both from the LA area, shocker) actually put Weaver over Verlander on their ballots and basically cost him the award. There is no argument for Weaver over Verlander. None.

Not a big deal, but I thought back2back Cy Young would be some consolation. Crazy how you can dominate pretty much every category but wins and lose.

Those two idiots from LA who put Weaver ahead should be strung up.

That is pretty shitty about the voting. It happens every year, it even happened with the NL ROY voting with someone from the SD Union Tribune giving a third place vote for Alonso while leaving Miley off of his ballot. You'd think that there would be safeguards against this sort of thing.

Edit: The same guy that left Miley off of his list also left Kershaw off of his top 5 in his Cy Young ballot.

Divisional anger.

I love how the voting is made public now. You can't hide your stupid votes anymore.

Loria and Samson have been making the rounds saying they had to do something about the team since they finished in last place and thought the trade would give them an opportunity to win more games. About that...

Because that trade doesn't make much sense for the Braves. Wren has basically said he's part of their "untouchable" young core along with Heyward and Freeman. He's already shown flashes of the potential gold glove defense he was lauded for as a prospect, and his bat was much better than expected. Atlanta trades him, and don't get a SS in return, they're left with a gaping hole and an important position.

I mean if Atlanta knows Simmons could get someone of Justin Upton's caliber (a more proven player than Olt) then why wouldn't they just make that deal themselves?

Was Andrus going to be a part of the deal? Because if he was, then yeah, I'd probably do it.

Price over Verlander I have no problem with. He did win 3 more games and had a slightly lower ERA. Weaver, despite winning 3 more games, had a higher ERA, nearly 100 fewer strikeouts, and pitched in 50 fewer innings.

It's not unreasonable to vote for Price over Verlander. Weaver over Verlander I agree is completely ludicrous.

Bummed about Verlander getting snubbed. But at least he lost to Price.

The Hunter signing is pretty exciting though. He obviously won't reproduce his numbers, but anyone in right field that plays defense is terrific, especially with his bat he'll be a nice second in the line up.

Jackson-Hunter-Miguel-Prince-Martinez should be a force. Hopefully Dirks has another good year, and Avila has somewhat of a bounce back toward forming a normal although it obviously won't be as good as his 2010 season.

Verlander-Scherzer-Fister should be pretty good again. Hopefully Sanchez is re-signed and maybe Porcello has a better year with a full year of Infante behind him. He showed more flashes last year than he has before, so maybe.

Buster Posey named NL MVP, which isn't a surprise. Don't think they've announced the AL winner, yet.

He was in Miami in the sunshine and on the grass and without losing the additional $5/$6M. I think eventually he might be won over (when he realizes he's on a good team on the first time in forever) but i'm thinking he comes in pissy. Watch him be the last person to report for a physical.
