I wouldn't want Josh Hamilton on a 5 year deal. He has 10 different reasons he might check out mentally at any time. Rangers missed out on Greinke and Hamilton, basically missed out on becoming the Yankees in 2 years with cash to spend but no room to spend it.

As long as it doesn't involve Travis D'Arnaud, giddy-up!

While I'd like the Jays to keep Gose, that's probably not at all feasible if you're going after Dickey. Although it would kinda suck to give up so many years of control of Gose for only 1 year of Dickey. That is assuming he doesn't sign an extension with the Jays.

We'll see what happens.

Just read that Hamilton's contract is backloaded, which makes sense. First year he'll only be making $15 million so I can only imagine how ugly its going to look in the last couple years.

Looks like the package is centered around D'Arnaud. Who knows though, the reports saying that could be false.

I'd assume because of what they're already paying everyone else on the roster, they'd want to keep the first couple years of Hamilton's service relatively low. It gives them a little more wiggle room now and down the line they're going to be forced to make some moves to relieve some salary.

If he's making 25 mil in 2016, which of its backloaded he'll be making more, they will owe him, pujols, cj and weaver over 90 million dollars. That's crazy for 4 players

This move essentially guarantees the angels won't be great for the foreseeable future.

The thing is, the rangers were right not to match on Napoli, Hamilton, greinke and the shields trade, but they still need a bat and an arm. I still wish they'd go get Felix or price
