Didn't see this coming, but through 28 games the Braves have scored 155 runs, which leads all of baseball. Unfortunately we've given up 133 runs which is tied for 5th worst. Our pitching hasn't been nearly as good as I thought it'd be but the offense has been about 100x better than I thought it would be. And, despite the 0-4 start, we're sitting at 17-11.
The Pittsburgh Pirates owned the Reds last year. Important to win today to take 2/3.
I used to go to all these games when I lived in Pittsburgh, or close by. Now, I haven't gone to a Reds vs. Pirates game in 2 years. PNC Park is slightly nicer than my new home stadium of Tropicana Field.
and the Indians win another Series, currently at 15-11, leading the AL central. still super early, but they are doing better than i thought they would. And Ubaldo didn't have an awful game, woo
It's OK for fans of other NL teams to go ahead and be afraid. Our offense, despite still being green in a few spots, is just downright scary right now. And Freddie Freeman (22 years old) and Jason Heyward (22 years old) should be anchoring the middle of our lineup for the next decade. The pitching hasn't been as good as advertised so far, but we've got four 20-somethings in the rotation who have taken their lumps. They've still got a lot of potential and Julio Teheran is waiting in the wings.
Juan Francisco has been a pleasant surprise so far. He was a part of the J.J. Hoover trade and I didn't really know what we were getting. He's been solid getting spot starts at 3B for Chipper and in pinch-hitting situations. His defense sucks but he's got some pop. Between he, Ross, and Hinske we have three bench players who are pinch-hit home run threats.
I hope it wasn't a straight steal because that would be a silly risk even though he got it. Brett Lawrie tried one and got burned earlier in the year. These hot-headed young players...

Hamels threw it to first and Harper took off, it was a great play.
