That sucks for Werth and the Nationals. They could have a very potent middle of the lineup with Harper, Zimmerman, Morse, and Werth, but only one of those guys is healthy right now and it's the teenage rookie. Seriously, with their pitching, and all those guys healthy, they would be scary good. I mean there's not many teams that would have a scarier lineup than the Nationals if/when all those guys are healthy. Throw in LaRoche, a solid power bat to hit in the 6-7 hole, and watch-out.
Zimmerman and LaRoache should come back tommorrow so we get a little boost but Werth and Morse being gone hurts a lot. Morse isn't here till late June and Werth will be back September, assuming he comes back this season. I'd be suprised if we can stay in the running for the playoffs especially with Strasburg on an innings limit.

On top of the September collapse I had to suffer through Jurrjens getting injured (and never recovering) while pitching the best ball of his life and Hanson getting injured after the All-Star break. And of course Heyward played injured all season. All that and we still nearly made the playoffs. Obviously losing Werth and Morse may be a bigger impact than Jurrjens, Hanson, and Heyward playing injured, but it sucks when injuries derail a promising season.

Washington scares me. They look to be the future NL East power. Fortunately Atlanta is young and talented, too, but we aren't as willing to spend as Washington so I don't know how many of our younger guys we'll be willing to lock-up. As long as Freeman and Heyward are anchoring the middle of the lineup and three or four of Teheran, Hanson, Delgado, Beachy, and Minor are in the rotation we'll be fine. Washington is just going to be downright scary if their pitchers and Harper and Morse can stay healthy. And if Desmond can become a 15-20 HR and 30+ SB guy, and be more patient at the plate and draw more walks, then Washington will be set at the 1, 3, and 4 spots in the lineup. I know nothing about Zimmerman's contract but he's still relatively young so you could have the 1, 3, 4, and 5 spots set for a while. Werth reinjuring an already problematic wrist would worry me but if he comes back 100% then, on top of a young and scary rotation, y'all will have a deep and talented lineup.

It's early but his peripherals support his surface numbers far. If Elvis andrus continues to hit like he is now(roughly 300/380/400), he's the 2nd best ss in baseball and a borderline MVP candidate

Why even waste the time/effort suspending a pitcher for 5 games right after he pitches?

If you're going suspend a starting pitcher, it should be 10 games, so he at least has to miss a start. 5 games is like a mini-vacation for Hamels. Stay home and play some video games or something.

At the start of the season Hanley had some troubles at 3B, but he's been looking really impressive defensively as the season has gone on.

P.S. GIANCARLO!

P.P.S. Get rid of Gaby and throw LoMo at first.

Rivera's ran into complications but probably not serious.

Also Fister 7 scoreless last night.

Josh Hamilton going HAM tonight, 4-4 with 3 HR's and 6 RBI's.

Also, AJ Burnett is having another great start tonight after getting shelled in his last start

8 IP, 2 ER, 10 K's tonight.

Make that 4 HR for Hamilton. Just heard that they were all 2-R homers, each with Andrus on base

And the Nats manage to take the lead. Sucks, feels like when the Nats were in a slump the Marlins were in a slump and now that the Marlins are on a winning streak the Nats refuse to give any ground.

Wow what a 9th inning in the Pirates/Nats game. Nats take a lead with a 2-R homer in the top half, Barajas ends the game with another 2-R homer in the bottom.

Matt Kemp was taking all the headlines as "best player in baseball" while Josh Hamilton was quietly staying with him step for step. After tonight, he's surpassed what Kemp is doing in a big way.

27 G, 106 AB, 43 H, 14 HR, 36 RBI, 4 2B, 11 BB, 21 SO, 2 SB, .406/.458/.840, 1.298 OPS

On pace for 76 homers and 194 RBI.

Thing is, Kemp is still having an incredible season.

30 G, 101 AB, 41 H, 12 HR, 27 RBI, 5 2B, 18 BB, 25 SO, 2 SB, .406/.488/.832, 1.319 OPS
