Yao probably out of the all star game
Houston Chronicle:
Though the timing had seemed clear since Yao Ming was hurt Dec. 23, Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy made the team's most definitive statement so far on Yao's chances of playing in the Feb. 18 All-Star Game, ruling Yao out.
"It's going to be a long time," Van Gundy said. "To put a timetable on it wouldn't be fair to him or to us. You won't see him there (in Las Vegas.)"
Yao is not scheduled to begin "active rehab," on-court workouts, until the All-Star weekend.

here's a chance for one of the bubble centers to sneak in. they wont get that chance again for the next 5 years. who's gonna make it?

damn, i forgot about that. seeing that stern knows nothing about the sport he commissions, he'd prob. pick someone like Dampier or Mark Blount
but in all seriousness though, does anyone think he'll pick amare?

I don't care if memo starts or comes off the bench, i just want to see him in there as a center instead of damp. It should be amare and memo.

Damp does not deserve to be an All Star over Okur.
His defense and screen setting are excellent. He needs to be more consistent though.

yep no problem. in fact, it happened last year when JOneal was injured and Stern was deciding between Gilbo or JKidd, with Gilbo getting the nod

So if Amare gets one center spot does Okur or Camby get the other ? Or maybe it goes to a non-center ?

the coach votes for the centers should still stand. Stern will choose a center whom thecoaches did NOT select and annoint that person on the team. then the coaches will decide who to start, regardless of position.
(Carter went as Guard on the ballots last year, voted in by the coaches, and promoted to start for JONeal)
