Default Move To Brooklyn Gets Approval!

Quote:
The NBA's Board of Governors unanimously approved the Nets move to Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Friday, as well as the name change to "Brooklyn Nets." The Nets have four remaining home games in New Jersey, with the new arena set to open on September 28.

The Nets and the NBA will begin using the name "Brooklyn Nets" on April 30. Team colors and logo are expected to be released in the days before.

"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to David Stern and the NBA team owners for their role in making the Nets' move to Brooklyn a reality," Nets owners Mikhail Prokhorov and Bruce Ratner said in a team statement

Im so excited for Brooklyn man
Cant wait to see the New Jersey's ( Uniform Jersey's not NJ )and the Logo

yea, i'd like to see how it would have gone otherwise:

"surprise! we were only fooling about letting you move! month of april, april fools- get it?? so five years of planning and one billion dollars invested in the new arena... out the window, suckas! hahahaha" cackled david stern, at long last horns finally sprouting from the top of his head, tail swishing triumphantly and pitchfork in hand, cutting through the air. "you didn't think you were ever going to leave new jersey, did you??," his crookedly-smiling, jack-o-lantern face seemed to leer of its own accord.

I'm furious that the 2014 ASG will be played in NO just because Stern offered it as a bonus for buying the team at a overpriced price. Now we need to wait until 2015 to hopefully have the ASG in our new billion dollar arena.

Well the NFL Superbowl is in NJ 2014 right? So I doubt they would of put it there regardless. But Brooklyn should of got it next season their debut season.

Looks like the All Star game is in a cycle, watch it be somewhere like Los Angeles or Phoenix again

I have no idea why Houston got it TBH. The Nets should have had it hands down. Brand new arena, great marketing for the NBA, but Stern thought otherwise. Pretty stupid if you ask me. All the stars would have been amazed to all play in this new beautiful arena.

amen. barclays in a few months will be the hippest and most cutting edge arena in the entire americas. and that doesn't mean you have to worship it or get intimidated by it, but simply taking advantage of it through an all-star game should be a no-brainer.

since that's not happening, the main reason why not is certainly about money. not necessarily money paid upfront, which would probably make prokhy look very suspicious, but money spent in many different ways keeping a select group of cities in the inner circle.

so look at it this way-- the all-star game is a completely shit-bogus affair which means absolutely nothing to any aspect of basketball that actually matters. the games themselves (rookie and AS) are complete frauds in which the main concern is to avoid defending and to look flashy while scoring some ESPN-worthy points. any smart upper-level player who wants to go deep in the playoffs is honored to be selected, but prefers to find a way to skip all the nonsense in order to rest their bodies.

tl:dr: the all-star game is complete nonsense on almost every level. there is really no better way that i know to say it.
