Now before you all jump on me listen to my reasons (if you dont like trade)
The number 4 makes less money then the numbr 1 by a few million. Alvins contract ($6,800,000 $6,850,000) comes off our hands and is basically replaced by Brian Skinner ($5,400,000 $5,850,000) which is a cheaper contract plus Brian has always been very underated. Portland doesn't want him and raptors could really use him as a back up to nesto at the centre. I consider paying him less and having him as a very active shot blocking, rebounding and scoring centre in around th 20 mins nesto is on the bench. We also pick up travis outlaw and the number 30 for the number one pick. This may seem like not enough but when u think that we get rid of alvins contract and pick up a deent big man to make us tougher as well as a player at 30 and travis outlaw also paying the number 4 pick less (player we most likely want will be here anyways) i think its a really good trade to make!!!
C- Nesterovic, Skinner, Sow
PF- Bosh, Humpries
SF- Charlie, joey, Outlaw
sg- Mopete, (number 30 or 36)
pg- Ukic*, Mike james *, Jose,
*maybe if signed
Now are pg is a little weak however, we could still sign or trade a player for example
Travis outlaw + number 30 for brevin knight
Charlotte wants young 2 and 3's and they could get two with outlaw and number 30 plus save 3.5 million in salaries leaving toronto with
I don't really like it, its not horrible but i just think we can get something better.... for instance Teflair.
To me that trade is like a band-aid it kinda covers a few things up, but does not truly help anything. Plus there is no way to know that who we want will still be there at the #4 pick, especialy with all the talk of teams trying to trade up to get _____.
well.. what plsayr do u want raptorts to get see personally i wouldn't be opset if we got marcus williams i really think he is the next best passing poing guard... I think number 4 will be fine
u ppl act like number 1pick is way better than 4 in a draft where 5 different players can go first......id be happy with 4, 30 and brian skinner than jus number 1......u never kno...with number 4 we can get marcus williams and 30 denham brown....our lineup can be this
PG Marcus Williams/Jose Calderon
SG Mo Pete/Denham Brown
SF Charlie V/Joey Graham
PF Chris Bosh/Kris Humphris
C Rasho/Brian Skinner/Pape Sow
and maybe through free agency we can get one more big man
I think if you are going to run the risk of trading down and possibly not getting the guy you are targeting, then you have to atleast get one of their young point guards in return. It was posted earlier then Portland is actively trying to trade up to #1 and they would give anyone but Martell Webster and Jarrett Jack, if this were the case, then any trade with Portland would automatically include Sebastian Telfair, if they were unwilling to include him, then I would demand to include Jarrett Jack or I wouldn't trade with them at all. If you trade down, you want to fill some of your needs, and point guard is definately a major need. On top of that, I would also look at Viktor Khryapa, a severely underrated player on their team that could give us good backup minutes at the forward position.

well in that case i say our #1 and #35 for telfair, #4 and #30...i think its great because we'll have a point guard and we still have the possiblity of getting aldrige, gay or someone good and then we have a better chance of gettin denham brown at 30 than at 35...so our team could looke like this
PG Sebastian Telfair/Jose Calderon/Roko Ukic
SG Morris Peterson/Denham Brown
SF Charlie Villeneuva/Joey Graham
PF Chris Bosh/Kris Humphris
C Rasho Nestrovic/Lamarcus Aldrige
then we have a better chance of gettin denham brown at 30 than at 35
I don't think you would take Denham Brown in the first round. It's a good marketing tool to draft a Canadian born talent, but I think it would definately be a huge waste of a pick to take him so early. I can't imagine Brown going in the first round, and I think it would be a gross mistake for taking him that early. According to nbadraft.net (Not the Most Credible Resource), he is slated to go at the 32nd pick, which I personally find to be a bit high, I just don't think he justifies that pick, but I am possibly quite mistaken, he was buried in a talented program at Connecticut.
If Colangelo feels that he is worthy of the pick, then I am fine with it, but I don't believe that you do everything possible to take him just because he is Canadian.
