2014 is a hopeful estimate by Martin himself.. but many speculate that it will be longer than that considering his history of pushing his own dates back multiple times..
that ****er better not have a heart attack. he's not exactly in the best of shape.

Yeah thats what everyone on the Interwebs keep gripping about.. plus, now with even more projects going including the television show, hes running himself semi-ragged. I mean for a man with his general disposition. The definitely looks like he never misses a meal or the snacks in between.
20+ years of waiting for a series that will have less than 8 novels in it.. and over 2 years and a half to read a new book is surpassing ridiculous..
Just finally started re-reading the series the other day. Went on the afoiaf boards today for twow and started reading some peoples theories about things I dont even remember?
Who the **** is Izembaro? I need to re-read these books in detail.

Yeah I looked it up on there after reading discussions about Izembaro but like...I could not recall for my life that Izembaro was mentioned in the books.

those people on that forum are pretty nuts.. they know people barely mentioned.

Yeah I know but I feel like the story is enhanced so much more by knowing these details.
It feels like I read the whole series the first time through only focusing on the Stark and Lannister situations. I feel like I only know half of the story.
I enjoyed what I did read so much I want to find more to enjoy I guess. I'm reading at a much slower pace this time around.

I was about to start re-reading them too for the same reasons. Then I lent my books out to someone else to share the world of GRRM and myself started reading "The Prince of Nothing" series.

I have them as ebooks on my phone. How's that series going? Is it good?

I've been reading it pretty slowly, only less than 200 pages into the first book. It's been good so far though. Pretty dark and the magic is pretty intense, though I just barely got to where you get to really "see" it in full force. Good story line so far too.

Agree. I read it much faster than 1st and 2nd. So many great (both good and bad) moments. Started AFFC yesterday and it doesn't look as promising...
The biggest favor you can do yourself while reading AFFC is to read it carefully. As in pay attention to each detail and try not to speed through it because it's at a different pace from the rest of the books.
I think AFFC is pretty underrated. If you don't go in expecting everything to happen at 100 mph like it did in the middle of ASOS you won't feel the way most people did about it.
