Celtics clinch 4th seed in East
Call him Doc Frankenstein. Another injurious wave has hit his team, and Celtics [team stats] coach Doc Rivers has been forced to build another lineup with spare parts.
Marquis Daniels and rookie E’Twaun Moore were both pulled out of the graveyard last night with Rajon Rondo [stats], Ray Allen and Mickael Pietrus all on ice.
Sasha Pavlovic started and Brandon Bass found himself in a shootout with the player he replaced, Glen Davis, who in turn was logging heavy time in the middle for the Magic because of the absent Dwight Howard.
Blame it on the lockout, but the Celtics have developed a knack for getting by with what’s available.
And last night’s 102-98 win over Orlando paid an additional bonus. The Celtics clinched the Atlantic Division title and the fourth playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. They are currently fighting the two seeds below them — Orlando and Atlanta — for homecourt advantage in potential playoff series. Record, not seeding, determines homecourt.
