Default 30 ppg a thing of the past?

I mean KD won the past two years with an average of 27.9. With many stars teaming up and generally more focus on team ball, are the days of 30 ppg going to go the way of 1,000 yards rushers in the NFL?

KD could have gotten 30ppg but has been more of a playmaker than 2-3 years ago.

30+ ppg is a very rare feat to begin with. With that said, it'll definitely happen again though.

T-Mac won his first scoring title with 32.1 in 2003. Next season won again, with 28.0. Similar situation IMO.

I think it can and will happen again. I think Durant could have gotten 30+ a game easily if Westbrook played more of a traditional PG and didnt shoot so much.

Some years are just like that, where the average scoring across the league goes down and the top scorers get 26 or 27 instead 30+

MJ's "shot-jacking" was the foundation for 6 rings and some of the greatest teams of all time.

Scottie Pippen was the foundation of those rings and teams.

05-06 was def one of the peak seasons for individual scoring

1. Kobe: 35.4 ppg
2. Iverson: 33.0 ppg
3. LeBron: 31.4 ppg
4. Arenas: 29.3 ppg
5. Wade: 27.2 ppg

That's five premier scorers of this era all going off

And wasn't this not too long after they implemented the hand check rule?

KD averaged 32 just two years ago. Let's not get all crazy here.

Default Re: 30 ppg a thing of the past?

If you look at the list of past scoring champs, you'll notice this:

Yr Player PPG
1996-97 Michael Jordan 29.6
1997-98 Michael Jordan 28.7
1998-99 Allen Iverson 26.8
1999-00 Shaq O'Neal 29.7

All of those were below 30 ppg.

I'm sure eventually someone will drop 30+ ppg again. It might not happen next season or the one after that, but it will happen again. If history repeats itself, NBA history is not exclusive of it.

how can you just ignore everything he did and sum it up with pippen was the reason.
you don't even realize how crazy ignorant your statement is for anyone that actually watched the guy.

Shame he couldn't win shit until he got a stacked team, in a weak era.
