The fact there are less 1,200 + yard rushers in the NFL is a lot different than this. That has to do with complete changes in the game (more passing, and more RB by duos or even trios) and is affecting every team almost.

On the other hand, 30 point scorers in the NBA is rare in the first place and only happens once or twice a year.

So, we're really only dealing with the top 3 or 4 scorers in the league here.

KD could get 30 next year easily, who knows. Same with Lebron as Wade and Bosh get worse. Kobe would have been at 30 ppg this year if he was any good at getting open shots. Melo may have been near 30 this year if he was on the Wizards and had a green light to chuck all game long.

The 2 best scorers in the league are on teams with other players that take their shots.

You put Durant on the Lakers in place of Kobe and he's averaging 35 ppg

The NBA will again change the rules at some point to give the edge back to offenses.

Still, I am so sick-and-tired of watching team's walking the ball up the court, milking the 24 second clock (and passing up good shots in the process), and then taking a horrible shot as the clock winds down.

Yeah cause we all know how good of a teamplayer Bynum is and he would probably go stand outside the paint so LeBron could attack the rim.

Kobe gets 23 shots per game and he's an average sized SG with dwindling athleticism. Durant is a 7 foot small forward that is literally ALWAYS open

And wasn't this not too long after they implemented the hand check rule?

Yup and the results showed in the PPG for star perimeter players skyrocketing that season. Also the same year that Wade earned the moniker 'D-Whistle' in the finals. That was the banner year for the no touching rule

Maybe the NBA ought to institute a 20 second shot clock...

They should properly deal with foul calls/flopping before they do something like that.

Kemba is another MJ bust. He needs Pippen to come in and help him make draft picks like he needed him to help him win rings.

You'd call the '91 Bulls stacked? Funny that you fail to mention that teams like Portland, LA, Phoenix, Detroit and arguably a few others like Boston clearly had more talent on their team than Chicago.

It will be done. Just right now the top scorers happen to be on contending teams, aging or dealing with injuries. Don't forget that nobody scored a full 30 ppg between '97-'00 either. Jordan and Shaq had seasons of 29.7, but those are the only "rounded" 30 ppg seasons, and there were none of those even in '98 or '99.

He's definitely a better player than when he averaged 30, but with Westbrook becoming more of the first option than Durant is now for some reason, Harden emerging as an all-star caliber player as well as KD developing as a playmaker as you mentioned, it's less likely. Plus OKC have become a contending team so that will change how much a player scores.

He's a scorer than he was when he averaged 30 too. It may not show up as much in stats(though he shot 49.6%, a career best by far), but he's more equipped to maintain his scoring in the playoffs. When he averaged 30, he was getting some really generous calls and got an excessive 10.2 FTA on just 20.3 FGA, you simply won't get as many of those calls in the playoffs, and not surprisingly, he dropped to 25 ppg on 35% shooting in that 1st round loss to the Lakers, while last season, he played much more like himself in the playoffs, and I think his game is more ready for the playoffs than ever.

You're making volume scoring sound easier than it is. How do we know it's even in Durant's nature to take that many shots, or if he has the stamina for it. Or the skill set to get open for that many shots, that's what people overlook with Kobe, granted, he still has a habit of forcing things at times, but not many have the skills to get that many shots off, and some of the shots he gets off, are more difficult for other players.
