LOL. He called it the biggest chance at an upset (even though Boston winning would be an upset) AND in his chat about an hour after the article was posted, he said he waffled on that series a lot and thinks he should have picked Denver.
Omg...such hate! How dare he???
Those words are so hateful. He clearly hates the lakers!

You obviously haven't been following his predictions over the years.
He picked Utah to knock them out two years in a row. Two years that they made the Finals. So yes. Him "waffling" over them losing in the first round is hating.

I remember that. He was on the radio in LA defending the picks. It had nothing to do with any basketball analysis, since anyone could see that Utah didnt' match up well with the Lakers. It was all based on his computer.
No matter how dumb a guy is (and I don't mind Hollinger) they aren't going to deliberately pick against a team because they don't like them because that will just make them look dumb and ultimately put their job at risk.
If you want someone who dislikes the Lakers enough to make irrational predictions about them though, Bill Simmons was saying they wouldn't make the playoffs at the start of the year, though it was probably as much to wind up Laker fans as an actual prediction. So even he's not that stupid.

Come on, I don't think it's hate. But his picks are always blind to matchups, and he bases them 100% on his 'formula.'
Yup, I read. It's funny how laker fans consider a differing opinion as "hate" - hell, he even picks lakers to win and it's hate.
Typical laker fans.
When that differing opinion mostly talks about why your team will lose coupled with a similar tone in the past it's obviously hate. Simple as that. If your definition of hate is different then fine, we'll agree to disagree.
For the record I have the Lakers winning in 7 too, so him picking the Nuggets in 6 or 7 wouldn't have bothered me, it's just the consistently bogus analysis when it comes to Lakers series that irk us Laker fans.

He's trying to analyse matchups. Maybe he has a blindspot for the Lakers. Maybe he's failed to account for Bynum returning in the past, or Lakers taking their foot off the gas, because picking against the Lakers over the past few years is a little odd.
But I don't think hes a bad pundit or predictor, I think maybe that he uses math (or maths as we call it in the UK) makes people think he thinks his numbers are perfect and scientific fact, rather than in actuality just being slightly overconfident in them.

Yup - we definitely have differing opinions on what hate means
Lakers and Celtics are being criminally underrated in this postseason. Over the past 4 years they have been the most playoff relevant teams for a reason.
